Abandoning Iraq (1. Declare victory: 2. Cut; 3. Run)
RealClearPolitics ^ | November 8, 2006 | David Warren

Regardless of its final composition, and regardless of other pressing issues or its mandate, the leading item of business for the new U.S. Congress will be Iraq.

It didn't matter who won control of each house — the fix was already in. Look at the composition of the Baker-Hamilton commission, which the outgoing Congress had already appointed to "find a way out of Iraq" — a bipartisan commission, representing the foreign-policy opponents of President Bush in both the Republican and Democratic parties. Soon it will formally report.

James Baker, secretary of state under President Bush's father, was the man who, in 1989, secured an American exit from Lebanon by effectively surrendering the country to Assad's Syria. Lee Hamilton, former Democrat chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, joined him in stacking the Commission's study groups with men and women representing the pre-9/11 foreign policy consensus, which could be summarized in the phrase, "stability through disengagement". On the Baker-Hamilton plan, Congress will take the war in Iraq out of President Bush's hands, as Congress took the Vietnam War out of President Nixon's. Iraq will then be delivered into the hands of Iran's ayatollahs.

Ok, let me be frank.

We have two wide open borders with semi trucks rolling through filled with illegals. The terrorists are already here.

Do you think now that the Democrats are in Power that the MSM will now tell start telling everyone the good things that are happening in Iraq?

Do you think the MSM now tell the truth about the economy?

I think the MSM will start telling everyone the Democrats are doing a great job, look at the economy, the success in Iraq...and so on. Let's wait and see.

WRONG! Liberals will 1. RUN, 2. cut funding, and give it to their supporters, then 3. Blame America the was in Iraq, and for its failures all over the world!

You hit the nail on head with that one. It will start before the Congress is even seated.

I've been posting the same thing for a few weeks now. I'm not so sure we're going to skedaddle out of Iraq after all.

I hope we do not have terrorism here even though we could use another wakeup call. Just thinking of how the situation in New Orleans went out of control should be enough to scare us all.

Iraq will then be delivered into the hands of Iran's ayatollahs.

And the rest of the world, nations both friendly and unfriendly, will take note and the lesson drawn from this will be that the US can not be relied on, that it has no belly for prolonged conflict and that the US can be defeated militarily by any enemy willing to wait for US pacifists to undermine the war effort. Maybe it's not just the Europeans who are no longer willing to lead...

Raise taxes, Cut & Run, Let the terrorist turn Iraq into prewar Afghanistan so that they can plot and plan a nuclear strike via a bomb furnished to them by Iran... Look out NY, you have a heavy package coming by way of sea.

The New Orleans hurricane aftermath was out of control because of 'Rat "leadership" in that area. Parts of MS were hit worse, and more damage was done--but they pulled out of it with good leadership--a Republican, as luck would have it.
