"I hope I am wrong."
I think you will be wrong, remember this was a press conference, he couldn't come off actimg like a sore loser. He is committed to keeping this country safe, he has never wavered on that and will use that veto pen if he has to. I really believe that. No one should judge him just because of a press conference.

I'm sure that GWB will use his veto pen if he has to, but it will be a last resort.
That's what most of us are afraid of.
To: MaestroLC
Something else is going on. Pelosi must have really threatened the president.

I think the cracks have been there for a long time.
But think on this. There are large cracks in the dems also.

To: RasterMaster
okay... think what you like... I mean calling on the Republicans to not abandon their conservative base was the wrong advice?
That is what Laura did....Laura called them out on abandoning the whole message they ran on......
you see what happened don't you?
Conservatives call on Republicans to live up to what they were elected on.... then WE are bashed....and then what happens? It is the Conservatives who put the GOP in power....not the moderates.... no the media.........
But you just keep blaming the conservatives for the loss and keep giving hte RINO's a pass... that will help get the GOP back in power.......

No. Bush is simply 'appeasing' the Left by 'listening' to the voters. Damn.

right and I bet we win back the house, senate, and presidency in 2 years because the dems will screw everything up in the next two years and people will be pissed.

I could see some kind of "campaign finance reform II" bill, including a "balance" provision for media outlets 30 days before any election. the MSM and the NYT would skate past it of course.
To: Uriah_lost
Actually it would simply be the party before the campaign of 2000.
A party that held a heck of a lot more seats.

Thank you, Mr. Rumsfeld, for a job well done. You were the best, but unfortunately a scapegoat.
On a personal note, you sure are a good-looking fella.
To: TexasPatriot8
Who would run as a Conservative now?
They know they will be creamed in the MSM, and then conservatives on FR will dump them as used baggage, and get stabbed in the back.
The same thing happened to the class of 94.
Which is why very few Conservatives run and win, and gov is still growing.
To: LibertyLee
The tax cuts are gone (will be a tax increase in 2010). The shame of that is that Bush couldn't even get them made permanent with a Republican congress.
