Democrats Will Take Control of the Senate

Posted on 11/07/2006 10:21:07 PM PST by jern

Looking at the votes still to be counted in MO it is bad news for Talent. He still has half of St. Louis County still to go. MT and VA are toast. 51-49 Democrats

The worst part for me and I'm not even from PA was the loss of Santorum.

And the loss of J.D. Hayworth in AZ I really liked him also.

I am sick, I really thought we might be able to pull this one out of the hat. I guess not. :( maybe another glass of vodka will make me feel better,

But then the thought of Nancy as Speaker ugggggggggggg

The loss of JD Hayworth is going to be really hard.

A true conservatives goes down.

I think this just opened the way for 12 million illegals to be legalised, American voters it seemed wanted that way.

Speaking as a Missourian, and knowing the politics of each of these counties quite intimately:

Clay: ex-urb of KC, likely margin to McCaskill.
Jasper: basically Joplin, sizeable margin to Talent.
Pemiscot: bootheel, sizeable margin to McCaskill (quote from Shirley K. Davis, wife of the old sheriff of Pemiscot County: 'The two major industries in our country are welfare and drugs. That's why we want the Aztar casino boat' (I didn't say it made sense, I merely cited the quote.
Polk: NW of Springfield on Hwy 13. Sizeable majority to Talent, theoretically, but the turnout will be small because the largest Mennonite community in MO is there, and they don't vote much.

Bottom line: the African-Americans and the U City and CWE faggots just done put a pasty-faced white woman, who keeps her family's money offshore in the Bahamas, into the Senate.

Ba-rump-bump. And that's the way it is (screw you, Cronkite, I stole that line, and what're you gonna do about it?)

well i hate to burst your bubble..that is why we lost tonight..me thinks its just a short term thing

If the public knew 3 years ago that 3000 US troops would die with no end in sight over a WMD program that wasn't near as active as we first believed then there is no way the support for the war would of been so high at the beginning as it was..

The democrats have no plan about well ANYTHING...it was all about Iraq

I wonder if Lieberman will support the Dems after they threw him overboard?

No matter how little he resembles conservative principles?

Do you mind if the party wins if Rudy is elected and they start restricting by the rights of gun owners through legislation? I could go on and on. There is a point where the deadlock will be counterproductive and it may not be a bad idea for all of the dems to have to step up to the plate and make us safe with their politically correct serarrches of our children and old ladies, with an occassional mid-east type thrown in.

Forgive me, I'm just wondering how much we will all pay in blood or treasure because the public cannot see the long-term impacts of the major change in foreign and domestic policy coming at us now...fronm and open door policy for illegals in which we all have to apy for their welfare, to the withdrawel from the international scene and the consequent squeezing of the economy through oil price increases.

Meanwhile, we will hear how it is all Bush's fault that these things come to pass.

Since the election results will be known as of tomorrow, I start to wonder now why the Democratically controlled cCOngress has done nothing about the low pay of all those people working now, and why they have done nothing about the declining housing market.

By the way, the price of oil is terrible...something must be done by that do nothing Congress!

If only the Rinos in Congress had courage and a brain. Now they will have the cover they need to do nothing, except give amnesty to the illegals.

I'm really glad I wasn't a cut and run conservative, and kept my mouth shut about my unhappiness with the party's policies, since this has worked out so well.

I think the squishy (hey! I have a new favorite word tonight!) swing voters just turned against the Republicans en-masse.

Also, they eased their conscience in a lot of red states by either believing (or forcing their conscience to believe) that they voted for a Conservative Democrat.

Not many of these democrats ran as a real Democrat. But more like Reagan Democrats.

I don't think it was as much as "cut and run" as it was " get your sh*t together" me thinks they will return back home in 2008

There is no "Nelson boys". There is only one DINO in the senate, that is Nelson from Nebraska. There is a chance he could switch.

I harbor no illusions that Lieberman will support Republicans in any way, shape or form. In fact, who knows what lengths he will go to get back into the good graces of the Dons, err Party Leaders.

I bet half the people who voted Dem have no idea, they believe what they read in the paper & see in the MSM. Wait til they find out!!

The don't read anything and they don't have time for the news. They "hear" stuff from the guy on the next barstool.

Where is the GOP bench? Where are the rising stars in the party? I don't see any. We are in big heap of trouble (a little Indian lingo there). Other than Arnold, who cannot run for POTUS, what other GOP governors are out there that can be viable Presidential candidates? Forget about Senators, a Senator will never be elected President again.

Every post of gloom and woe is manna from heaven to our adversaries.

I'm not angry at the public for voting the way they did, I'm angry with my party for letting me down. They blew an eight year opportunity to change our country for the better, and ended up giving us a larger government than we had when they went in.

So I for one am not going to mope or offer my throat and belly to those who would see American neutered and socialized, I am going cede the battle graciously and begin fighting TOMORROW for the next election and to ensure the Republican party nominates viable candidates who not only talk the talk, but walk the walk.

This flushing of the toilet (less Santorum) had to happen. No pain, no gain.

In the end, no media bias, no ballot box stuffing, and no lawsuit will prevent the election of a candidate with a message the resonates with the people, instills pride in their nation, and is delivered with sincerity.

Let's demand more from our party, and then work tirelessly to get them elected, and take tonight as a warning of what can happen if we do nothing at all.

And I will never believe that we lost by such large numbers due just to the GOP missteps. The media orchestrated this mess. Their unbalanced reporting was the major culprit.

Thus my tagline. This is not to say that the GOP did everything it could. It's criminal the way that Karl Rove, Andrew Card, Scott McClellan, and others let the media manage the aftermath of the war and the ridiculous, drawn-out, meaningless Joe Wilson compost heap. Yeah, Rove survived, as did the VP, who probably never was in danger. Seems like a pretty Pyrrhic victory now, doesn't it?

As much as I would like to smack ABC's Demo-licking smugmeister Terry Moran in the mouth to make his fat lips even fatter, I'd like break my foot off in the posterior of the nincompoop who told Bush it was a good idea to go to a fundraiser after Katrina's landfall. I don't buy Kanye West's blather about him not caring about blacks, but it sure didn't help that as press photos of stranded residents on rooftops were making their way around the globe, there was a picture of the President of the United States strumming a guitar he got as a gift hundreds of miles away.

Worst of all, it was left up to Rick Santorum and others to get the WH to reveal the extent of Saddam's nuke program. Why, after all the ground that was lost when the President was being called a liar, didn't they do something earlier???

I have said Rove isn't now and never was a genius many times on FR and have been pilloried for it. I think he had the good fortune to have run against two unbelievably arrogant blowhards who didn't have any ideas that America would embrace. This time, he was running against Nancy Frigging Pelosi, "my" Congressperson (it makes me feel slimy just saying it). Nancy Pelosi is not just an empty dress, she is a see-thru empty dress. She's a cipher. She's got nothing. She's never done anything but raise millions for the Democrats. And now, if anything happens to Bush & Cheney, God forbid -- NANCY PELOSI IS GOING TO BE PRESIDENT. I can hardly believe I wrote that last sentence, and the worst part is that it's true.

I wanted to believe Rove knew something we didn't. He didn't, he doesn't, and I was right. But I so wanted to be wrong this time.
