"I don't think the Democrats are THAT insane to turn the Iran issue into their political gain..."

I'm not so sure about that, but I sincerely hope you're right.

"I'm convinced that they couldn't possibly have squandered such an opportunity so badly unless they WANTED TO.."

I've wondered the same thing. Actions do speak louder than words.

Easy...Bush's fault.

All during the Klintoon years they didn't let a paragraph be uttered without it containing a negative reference to the "past 12 years" meaning, of course, the 8 years of Uncle Ronnie and 4 years of Bush the Elder. The W Bush's fault explanation for everything bad of the current crop of RATS is really going to get a workout now.

I was wondering about that. Haven't seen any " Magnificent Bastard" posts tonight. That said, looks like a standard 6th year of Administration result based on a historical perspective. Persoally I'm disgusted with the way the Republicans have failed to push through a conservative agenda with majorities in both legislative branches. I worry about what the idiots in charge now might try. I'm hoping for the best which would be total gridlock.

May the Lord forgive us for electing democrats.

Forgive us? He put them there. (Romans 13:1)

Do you REALLY think the repubs will gain a set now? The generally rolled over when they were in the majority, what makes you expect anything more now?

I believe that a big part of many Repub losses today are related to the lack of guts demonstrated by many so-called Republicans.

Folks- it's time to "dispose" of your firearms before Pelozi/Clinton's Gestapo come to confisgate them along with a LOT more taxes.

Republican Lite created all this. Now back to the drawing board for the GOP. They have to rediscover themselves.

"believe everything on the TV news" Right about that, but we (Senate/House etc) never did hammer the fact that the Libs have BIG plans to repeal Bush's tax cuts and that I understood what I heard about the tax cut, it would cost the average family of four $3000 more to be taxed (figuring a LOW simple number of 20% of 3000 = 600 a year)

Hmmm, let's see...600 per year for 2 years = $1200, 6 years $3,600 bucks....Looks like the poor liberals must have more extra money laying around than they realized that they do and they're happy to spread it around rather than keep it.

[You know, it's almost a pleasure to read this thread when I remember the DU after they lost.

They cried, they whined, they threatened to commit suicide and leave the county - which promise they reneged on, I might add. Freepers have so much more class.]

Agreed. I too wondered how we would react here. But I suppose I expected the level of class and intellect that is actually on display. Maybe Bush cannot start calling them out and talking over them to the American people like Reagan once did.

hopefully this is a kick in the nuts for the republicans to stop chasing the idea of outlawing abortion

Any group of people who believed that we were killing over a million kids a year and did NOTHING to stop it would not be worthy of being dogcatchers.
