What Republicans need to learn from tonight...

The most important thing that Republicans should learn from tonight is that America is a representative democracy.
This does NOT mean that your congress critter shares ALL your beliefs, or that he is a perfect human being, but rather that, in general, he votes the way you want him to.
It's like hiring a lawyer. You may despise his personal life and his principles, but what is important is that he WINS YOUR CASE.
Democraps could care less about the morals of their elected officials as long as they win.
Republicans could learn a lesson here...

The United States is set up as a Republican Form of Government with a Constitution that is the law of the land. Representative Democracy is something I've heard my liberal professors push.

When Americans see Nancy Pelosi as speaker and all those liberals like Barney Frank, Conyers of Michigan, etc. as heads of Congressional committees for the next two years, I'd say election night in 2008 will be a very pleasant experience for the Republican party.

Republicans/Conservatives need to learn from tonite is they will never get anywhere without first destroying the MSM.
For is it the MSM/DNC/Hollywood/DC Bureaucracies and Academia who have ruled this country for 40 years.
Conservatives were but a guest in their house.
(I have said this since 2000)

I'm still trying to figure out why the Republicans have to learn very much when by all historic precedence the Democrats did pretty damned crappy tonight.
I am NOT sugarcoating the harsh facts. It's BAD that Pelosi will soon be Speaker. It's BAD we have a razor-thin hold on the Senate.
But how is this, in a sixth year of a Presidency, anything but a disappointing showing for the opposition party?

Here are some points to remember if the Republicans want to do better in elections:
1. Throw out the Neo-Conservatives who believe that big government is the solution.
2. Bring back the idea of simplifying income taxes like Dick Armey's postcard tax form.
3. Push like hell to get rid of the death tax. It kills the small/family business in favor of corporations. It is unfair !
4. Balance the budget and not only that, pay down the national debt.
5. Throw out police state types of laws. get the Federal Government out of the business of dictating what the states will do:
- Repeal the Real ID Act especially on the license provisions. It was passed without discussion/debate. We are starting to find out how much this will cost and the problems it will cause.
- The Federal Gov't has no business in dictating what type of traffic laws states will have. Examples are seatbelts, DUI standards. At least we got rid of 55 mph and helmets but it is likely to come back if there is a Speaker Pelosi.
To: Philistone
Trust me - I don't like Pelosi but I will not resort to a logic that says we should all just lower ourselves to the level of the democrats. If you can't beat 'em join' 'em.
If that's what it takes then I have to question if this country's even worth fighting for.

After 2004, Democrats decided their best strategy was to get nasty. They block Social Security reform, and in general have presented no plans. They hate Bush, that's their entire platform.
Republicans would be smart to learn a lesson. There should be no placating after this elections. Republicans should learn a lesson: Get nasty. Stand up for conservatism. Run on bumper sticker slogans. Hey, it works for the Democrats.

One other thing all of us need to understand from tonight:
There is a small, but significant amount, of selfish, cut and run, short term thinking idiots who call themselves conservatives (and at least one big whiner is on the radio) that would rather put their country at dire risk by getting Dims elected by their actions.
These cowardly little piss ants should disappear and start their own party. They can call it the Perfect Party since they all expect perfection and evidently think they are perfect.
Republicans need to remember this and know they need to win by at least 5% in any race to overcome the 1-2% that these little peons represent. Republicans also must remember that these selfish little punks are never happy, they expect perfection, and will put you and me at risk just because they do not get everything they want.
Not to let the Republicans off the hook. They really screwed things up by going away from conservative values in a number of things. However, there will be much talk about that in the coming months,
But now, our country is at great risk. If any of these cut and run cowards start to bitch and whine about how things are going in the coming months, they should be flamed, slammed and banned.

History will show that the Republicans did amazingly well tonite. That being said, yes, it hurts to see the House go.

Republicans could learn a lesson here... Then maybe the GOP could learn something here. Put some decent candidates out and stop spending all the damned money in the world.
PS : Secure the damned borders already ... oops .. too late.

Nonsense Americans see what the MSM wants them to see.
And finally Iraq will have good news reported, as will the economy, and the world will love us again.
As far as the Commie Vampires in the House, they will NEVER be criticized by the MSM or Hollywood.
American's will think as they are told.
