Maryland Governor is ahead by 9% in the tallied vote.

FoxNews says they are not using exit poll numbers.

FN calls the race for the Dim challenger...

So how did they decide this?

Oh yeah... AFTER they call PA with 0% reporting, NJ with 1% reporting, MD with 1% reporing (and a republican lead), etc ALL for the dems... they decide to stop basing it on the exit polls.

I think they're lying...the vote totals they show make no sense for the calls they're making...It's ticking me off Big Time

Steele is up 51-47 and fox called it for Cardin?

Give me a break.

I will say this much, Hastert and our R leadership in the house has to go, and and go quickly.

They called MD when all the tallied precincts showed Steele ahead at 55%.

Sorry, that should have read "exit polls were giving Bill Clinton (UGH) a 12 point margin over President Bush, Sr. in 1992 when the final margin turned out to be FIVE %"

The 1992 exit polls were OFF by SEVEN % (in favor of the 'Rats of course).

BTW: I'm finding it interesting that every race called so far has gone for the dems... yet allen with 24k lead, corker with 20k, talent with 14k... and all with about 15-25 TIMES more acutal vote returns in... still "too close to call"

MSNBC even already talked about the Virginia race being "recount close"

Where did you hear them say this?? I just TiVo-ed back to shortly before your post time, and they said nothing of the sort.

That and the fact that they are STILL calling races based on exit polls, and think you heard something wrong.

"Kristol is all about immigration, he thinks if the GOP loses big it will prove that the house GOP was wrong about the fence and hard line approach."
______________________________________________________________________

That's what I don't like about the Weekly Standard and its editor. Bill Kristol has that standard aristocrat's dismissive attitude toward illegal immigration, its consequences, and us peasants who dare to complain about the situation (same as Dubya and the Wall Street Journal editorial page).

A good many of his opinions suffer from that attitude. Although I like a lot of what he has to say, I keep getting that niggling feeling that he came from a silver spoon background.

Actively rooting for it, in fact. (He's admitted to having "liberal views" on not a small number of issues while seated on the FNC panel).

Kristol always reminds me of someone having something to come out of the closet about.

FNC says they're looking at actual vote totals in representative precincts, so as to avoid using exit polls.

That's what they SAY, but I don't see it looking at the % of precincts reporting, which precincts they are, and the vote totals being reported. Steele is a good example of where i think they'll have to pull it back.

One thing I find really mystifying: where in all of this analysis and result counting is the absentee vote?

I worked a polling place today with two precincts in Indiana CD9. The absentee ballots were delivered early in the afternoon, and entered into the optical scanners during slow periods. All of them were included by poll closing (6 pm).

I have been wondering about the absentee vote also. Everyone is saying what huge numbers were out. When are they counted ?
