Ok, so assume he'll pick up 350 votes in Meagher, and 550 in Fergus. That's 900 votes, which puts him at -1152. If he maintains 51-47 in yellowstone he'll pick up another 2000. Gallatin he could also pick up another 400.
Regardless of what you think of him, it's going to be John McCain for 2008, now. He'll have his campaign announced, I suspect, before the year is out.
And I think he's probably going to be the 44th President.
For good or ill? Well, I think he's steady on terror. And, let's face it, he's more conservative than either Giuliani or Romney.
As much as it surprises me to be here, I think I'm for McCain.
Of course, I was initially for McCain in 2000 (because he was for a more aggressive foreign policy than Bush), but I switched to Bush when McCain went a little bit nutso against the "Religious Right."
Anybody know if there are absentee or overseas military ballots yet to be counted in Montana? Those usually favor the GOP.

I think you're both right to an extent. People will still vote their pocketbooks and the economy because they are practical, more so than people who vote on social issues, and not out of allegiance in either case. It's only the die-hard political junkies who feel allegiance to a party, be it rat or GOP, so I think Jeff is partially wrong on that issue, although there would be some who stay home if there was no third party. The same thing happens to the rats with the envirowhackos voting Green. And I think you are right about the broader point the other poster was trying to make, because there's definitely some truth to that, especially when it comes to social conservatives.
Not to mention he won Gallatin by about 1,500 votes last go round.

Who knew having Chaney on the ballot from that State would mean that much, considering that Gore lost his home State of Tenn.

We need a few thousand overseas ballots from military and business people. Those could be crucial.
It looks like Gallatin is good for another 400 votes pick up right now.
So it's looks like this 550+350+400+2000=3300, he's lose by 2052.
He'll lose about 10 votes in Lake.

The lefty moonbats will run roughshod over them in a heartbeat. It'll be play or pay the consequences in the next race, committe assignements, etc., because this is going to be a somewhat sizable freshman class of rats and their support will be needed by the rat power brokers, no doubt. Wait until the unions and the other strong rat pacs start coming down on them.
We may not need 90 days to bring about regime change there... But if push comes to shove, they couldn't refuse, it's far more serious than Milosevich "Wag the Dog" was in 1999 and GOP Congress gave early approval to that debacle. Or else Dems can kiss their security credentials goodbye forever, particularly 2008.
