You're begging the question. Jeff's premise is that they have left the party for some reason or other. They owe it no allegiance.

If I might make so bold, I believe his broader point is that the party needs to stand strong and minimize such defections.

I would rather him vote Republican, thus helping to defeat the Democrat. Is this a trick question?

Apparently for you it is. The person has left the party - he's gone - he isn't voting Republican anymore.

If a person votes 3rd party in a close race, that should tell you that he had no intention of supporting either the democrat or the republican and did not care who won between the two.

I don't think that's fully true. Some would vote, others wouldn't.

I believe they ARE the lunatics, wolves in sheeps clothing. I will be interested to see how many of these are STILL Pro Life and pro family AFTER they start governing.

Then such a person helps the Democrat by not helping the person opposing the Democrat who has the best chance to win.

I heard Liddy yammering away on MTP on Sunday. She was NOT an effective voice for our side.

Right now Burns needs 4,725 votes from Yellowstone, Fergus, and Meagher counties or he's toast.

Lewis and Clark just finished reporting and gave the RAT a handful more votes.

Tester (RAT) 158,536 49%
Burns (PUBBIE) 153,811 48%
Jones (L) 8,294 3%
87% in.

Here's to hoping that Yellowstone County counted all the RAT-favorable precincts first.

Gallitan is reporting pretty much a wash (49-49-2).

If they wanted to vote for the Republican then they would have. If the third party didn't exist they would have just stayed home.

The Losertarian has a pretty high number of votes for such a sparse population. Didn't we go through this before rather recently with one of the mountain states? Was it MT? Or maybe it was SD?

"With states voting to increase the minimum wage themselves when it should be the Feds who do it why do you keep insisting that the house was on the right side of that issue?"

Unless the minimum wage laws are written with prices freezes in them as well all businesses wil raie their prices to absorb their higher overhead which in turns raises prices on those that deal in business with them.

Think of McDonalds. The have lots of minimum wage people. they will have to raise prices some to compensate to hold their margins. But additionally all the places the buy stuff from like the hfarmers who sell headlettuce will have to raise their prices as well. so McDonald's price will not raise just to compensate for their increased labor costs, they will als raise to compensate for their higher ingredients costs.

In essence whe you raise the minimum wage all you do is stir up the makets for a bit and then it all settles down at a new higher level.

A.K.A. Inflation.

ANd all the chest bumping about how you gave the poor man more money is basically crap, when actually what you did is raise prices for everyone who didn't get a raise.

You're 100% correct. It also can have the effect of pricing a job out the market.

I wish that republicans could get this point across but unfortunately it is probably too complex for the masses.

The masses would rather have a dose of a feelgood measure.

This is like being neutral between a robber and his victim. Anyone who is "neutral" in an election between a Republican and a Democrat is -- in the eyes of any Republican -- helping the Democrat by not helping the person trying to defeat the Democrat.
