I thought we were the masses.

Stop blaming the media. People vote as they see fit. There is not some mythical horde of folks sitting like twitching, wide-eyed slugs in front of their televisions obeying orders from the networks.

They need a 2/3rds majority in the Senate to convict, not simply a majority.

Thanks...

A massive expansion of the welfare state is hardly "moving the nation to the right".

By freeing the Iraqi people I am afraid out president may ultimately enslave his own. Does anyone really believe if the Iraq war had not taken place that we would be dealing with these heavy losses tonight? The Libs won because they made this election a referendum on Iraq. Without Iraq the Senate at least would still be in GOP hands, and probably the house as well.

The Hard Left will be demanding NHC, high taxes, cut-and-run, but the poseurs dare not cave in to them. Things will get pretty interesting two years from now if they do.

That's clearly what happened in the weeks leading up to this election; we refused to see the data that was presented to us.

What is the importance of coldly analyzing the data? Were you planning on switching sides if you thought we were losing? We are not a site for analyzing polls, we are for conservative discussion and activism. Our duty is to fight the good fight, not run away if things seem tough.

There are not many who can act like the 300 Spartans at Thermopylae, accepting inevitable destruction. There was obviously always a chance we could have done better, and we could have done far worse (if you think tonight is bad, try living through election night, 1964). Keeping up our spirits during the heat of battle is one of the functions of this site. Now we need to relax for a few days, analyze the results, see what went right and wrong, and plan for the future.

Or we can run away and hide under our beds. Which is your choice?

according to this website http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/eb/absentee.htm#how

Mailed absentee ballots are counted on Election Day in the Central Absentee Precinct (CAP).

Not looking good for Allen. It seems absentee ballots are counted wth the precincts, and I would asume reported in the precinct numbers.

I'm sure it was a complete socialist route here, like it is every year.

Did DeWine and Chaffee vote for Alito and Roberts?

YES! And not ONE Republican Senator voted NO on Janice Rogers Brown! Even Lincoln voted for her!

I can promise you that Sherrod Brown will vote with Boxer on judges. The RINO-hunters here have self-inflicted more injuries than John Kerry in Vietnam.

If I've said it once tonight, I've said it a million times... this was the MSM's election win, period. They controlled it from the moment 2004 was over. They will be emboldened and will be even worse in the coming months.

"May god have mercy on the souls that will be lost now that our enemies will be emboldened..."

My son just got back (again) from Iraq. My sentiments exactly. People will die, the terrorists are smiling tonight because America is showing what they suspected, harrass us for a few years, get blood on our TV screens and we will cry for mama. I am very very angry tonight, and I want to keep that anger focused on the murdering butchering terrorists, but I have some definite animosty toward my fellow Americans, Lord please help me..

Jackson 50% in ..McCaskill ahead 8,000 votes there

Jefferson 50% in .. McCaskill ahead 6000 there

St.Louis County 31% in .. MCCaskill ahead 7000 there

Thise are the only heavy McCaskill numbers out there other than the counties reporting 0%.

The Dems need to win Virginia, Missouri and Montana in order to take the Senate. Montana looks like it is theirs. So, they need VA and MO and they win the Senate. One out of two and Cheney breaks the tie...

Bullshit!

It wasn't just one group that caused this, it was all. The Buchananites, The "absolutists", the "Evangelicals", the "Moderates", the "RINOs". all contributed to this freakin' disaster.

It was also the president. I wonder how many people voted rat to keep their sons and daughters out of harm's way in Iraq? The war has gone on several years now, and the end is not in sight for many of those people. I voted straight 'R', but even I'm not sure what is happening in Iraq. Maybe we should have pulled out when the statue of Saddam was toppled? If the area was going to devolve into civil war amongst barbaric peoples, why did the Americans have to be caught right in the middle of it? When will it be done? Do we truly belive a lot of muslims who want sharia law are going to embrace democracy?

I don't think W or Tony Snow or Rummy had enough answers for people.
