Stop blaming the media. People vote as they see fit. There is not some mythical horde of folks sitting like twitching, wide-eyed slugs in front of their televisions obeying orders from the networks.

The mood of the majority among the electorate was that too many Republicans were behaving like political wimps afraid to make a stand on anything for fear of upsetting some delicate balance which allows them to retain their slight majority. Now the slight majority is going the other way and the Democrats will spend the next two years looking warily over THEIR shoulders.
