I had the same thought. They seem quite happy about the newfound opportunity for "comprehensive immigration reform", as if the Dems will be so much more sensible than the Neanderthal Republicans were.

The whole thing is making me figuratively ill.

It would be nice to be able to jump ahead 25 years and hear what people are saying about the decisions made tonight. But alas, we don't have it that easy. We have to live through the debacle and weather it the best we can.

Pardon my language, but holy shit.

Just looking at the new results....Webb ahead, basically winning though thank heavens we have absentee ballots here....Montana WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY behind for Burns....

This is terrible.

It is basically a 50/50 chance we will lose the Senate now.

I really can't believe it. I just can't.

There is one glimmer of hope. We lived through many years of Republican presidents, Dem Congress. But back then the Dems had an agenda. They don't now...other than to get Bush.

The Democrats back then are far different than the leftist trash we're faced with now. Most of them at this point actively want this country to lose the war on terror just to make conservatives look bad. Country be damned.

"It's up to Bush to veto the craziness."

What's a veto?

We were beat by spineless people who thought "they would send a message" by not voting.

No, they voted all right. It's just that they voted for the Democrats, not for us in order to teach us a lesson, or like here in PA where a lot of them voted Dem because they think their party has returned to them since many Dems ran to the right of the Republicans.

You are right. We lost everything tonight.

Not a single Dem seat in the House or Senate was lost. It was a total and complete wipe out for us.

Exactly.

And it's also not a choice between two evils come general election time - more like a choice between evil and gutless.

President Bush will do the right thing. Soon, he will give a speech trying to encourage healing, bringing the country together and move on to the future.

He is a far better man than I could ever be. I would have turned those sandpits into glass.

AND, after this traitor filled country, The Un-united States, did what it did today, I would immediately call EVERY Troop home.

Then I would walk up to the first camera I could find and tell the nation that the turncoats can have it, that the American people made their bed, so they can sleep in it.

Then I would smile and say, "I am going fishing", as I flipped off the camera.

Absentee ballots are not counted until and unless the regular vote count is close enough to be changed by the absentee count.

For example, suppose the difference is 10,000 votes and the total number of absentee ballots is 12,000. In that case, the absentee ballots will be opened and counted.

On the other hand, if the difference is 20,000 votes, the absentee votes are left uncounted because they will not change the outcome even if all of them go to the candidate that is behind in the regular count.

Yes they are, and they should be.

They've been left all the bills.
