I keep asking, but get no response: Why the Lieberman love?

Because Neddie Lamont was the Daily Kossacks' boy, that's why!

The house will be the bane of our existence for the next 8-10 years because those seats we lost are in solid blue states. It'll be a while before we get to say we have a republican speaker and it might not happen in our lifetime.. It was fun while it lasted..

Ah, but we all feel better now that we've 'taught them a lesson,' eh?

You think that a few posters on FR are at fault for this? Many of us here warned the GOP that they would take a beating in November if they didn't do something about illegal immigration. Not because we personally wouldn't vote for them but because it was depressing the base.

That is what happened. That is why illegal immigration doesn't even show up on the exit poll issues, the people that care about it, and there are tons, stayed home.

my county just passed a $178,000,000 school bond....

I am soo freaking happy whoopie. Little happy tax dance. Bonds are great way to pour your money into a hole and say you did something good.

"ATTENTION: All Conservative bashers. Conservatives showed up. It's the precious unreliable moderates that seem to have sat this one out. So if you want to blast anyone, thank the ungrateful pack of Republican Moderates the GOP catered to the past two years. Don't believe me? Check out what races are going down. It ain't the conservative strongholds by and large, it's the wimpish Lib Mod districts."

This is absurd logic. Unless you give something for moderates to hold onto, they won't give you their support. And without their votes, you aren't going to win. Period. End of story. I've said it a thousand times, you play the race to win the majority of votes of the moderates, not just your conservative base. Those who think they can win with conservative votes alone just haven't been around long enough to know how the game is played.

Burns is toast, but Allen, Corker and Talent win. So we keep the Senate.

Don't know about the House, but we should be happy with keeping the Senate.

-Sam in ex-Californian and ex-New York infested Texas

I'm sure for every conservative New Yorker or Californian that Texas inherits, it inherits 10 liberals who didn;t like the taxes in their states, but then try to vote for the same policies that brought about those taxes. I apologize for any socialist MA people who've invaded Texas ...

I certainly don;t want crazy politics to FORCE me to leave my home (I have family, friends, a job here) and would want any move to me on my terms. When I do move, I want it to be because of the weather ... and to go to somewhere sunny. On the coast, though.

Like they say, I need to keep working hard here, millions of lazy Democrats are depending on me!

"People, can we save the finger pointing for those responsible instead of attacking each other? If you are still watching Fox, take one look at the smirk on Kristol's face. That is your enemy, right there. He and the McCainiacs who think this is the first step in their road to power. Screw the Democrats, who had to run as Conservatives to even stand a chance. We got rid of Chafee tonight, and I will take that as a victory, as well as Keane who had nothing good to say about Conservatives or our President. As I reminded a poster earlier today, it is challenges that form and determine our character. Do we sit around blaming each other for the next few months, or do we identify the true enemy, and in 2008 be prepared to kick some liberal asses? The choice is ours."

First, we need to figure out what went wrong, then we need to fix it.

IMO, a huge problem was that the Dems convinced too many that there is an easy way to fight the WOT, including Iraq. Many are tired of the war and are looking for an easy way out.

Which is pretty pathetic, when you think about it.

95% of the voters experience this war only when it inconveniences them while they are watching the evening news.

From National Review:

Latest VA [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
From a Va. watcher: "Allen is now up by 20k votes and will likely win. He won VA Beach, a large, hotly contested locality, by about 6%. Some NOVA burbs still out, but Allen’s lead should hold."
