All right, folks. Guess I have to do it again around here and hand out the chill pills.
1) It is absolutely clear to me that we have won this. We will keep the Senate, and I'm 90% sure we keep the House. We'll probably gain a seat, maybe two in the Senate.
2) I know this from the turnout numbers, just as I did in 2004. The fact is, forget Indies. They don't vote in high numbers. It's all about the two parties, and who gets out their base.
We have done that today beyond my wildest expectations. The info we have from the Hotline on turnout is overwhelming, and in virtually every key state, we have exceeded Dem turnout by 2, 3, 4, or 6%.
As I predicted, we are seeing a Dem UNDERVOTE. They are underperforming, esp. in key states such as OH. However, they are underperforming far worse than even I dreamed. We are looking at 20% in Cuyahoga County! Brown and Strickland couldn't get elected dog catcher with that level of support.
SO HERE IS WHAT TO EXPECT: THE MEDIA IDIOTS HAVE THEIR TEMPLATES. THEY WILL BE VERY SLOW TO COME AROUND. IT WILL BE A LONG NIGHT, BECAUSE THEY WON'T BELIEVE THEIR EYES.
They may even "call" a few House races, maybe a Senate race, based on some ridiculously low "exit poll" and have to recant later. Be patient. The turnout numbers suggest we absolutely cannot lose.
I understand that sentiment.
You're right...but I never thought we'd abandon the troops again. I'm supposed to go and do a flag ceremony for Veterans Day, and have a meal with vet friends on the 13th. I don't think my heart will be in it. The electorate may have deluded themselves into thinking they were voting for change in Iraq, but what they really did was stab the troops in the back.
With all due respect, that is a load of bullsh**.
Joe Public and Jane Worker are the same disloyal, feckless, spiteful, and ungrateful bastards who sent me to Vietnam, and then threw Baggies full of s*** at me when I came home. They are the same ones who say they "support the troops but oppose the war" and talk down to my son, my nieces, and my nephews who wear the uniform. They are the ones who elected the Congress that voted to cut and run in 1974, and they have now elected the next cut-and-run Congress in 2006. They have chosen to squander the lives of our children and waste their heroic sacrifice. The only thing I can say good about them is that they only sacrificed 3,000 of our children to no end instead of 52,000. This country has shown itself to be truly unworthy of its defenders. Joe Public and Jane Worker deserve the jihadist attacks on America that will inevitably follow our withdrawal from Iraq. Joe Public and Jane Worker: f*** you, you're on your own dealing with al-Qaeda. My family will not contribute one more drop of our blood to your defense. We will no longer do your dirty work. You've always hated us. Fine. We hate you, too.
I share your disgust with the American voter; but don't ever think that people like me don't exist. There are those that appreciate you and your family and respect your service.
Sure, let's bring the troops home, cause we'll need them to fight al-Qaeda coming over the border.
They are commiting national suicide and don't even realize it. Another 9/11 is coming and it will shake this country to its foundation.

My God, Larry, what the heck do I tell my son who wants to go to the Air Force Academy? What do I tell the Vietnam guys at the local restaurant when I go in for my vets day dinner?
"Incoming!!!" How do I know? I have to go to a ceremony at the chapel on Fri. too.
One word: don't.
Unless, of course, he relishes the idea of having baggies full of s*** thrown at him.
I'm still hopeful, though, that the actual vote counts will show that we didn't lose the House or Senate, but came pretty dang close! I also hope that the Republican Congressmen and women will start governing and budgeting a lot more wisely than they have done for the last few years. Maybe a close call will shock them into some sense!
To think our nation would ELECT those that OUR ENEMY openly said they wanted to win, is beyond my comprehension.
God Bless our Troops!!
You're right, but usually by the time they figure that out, it takes us six more years to get back to where we were. Everyone knew Clinton was a dangerous sex freak after two years, but he managed to hold on, didn't he?
With the Dems in charge of the House, they won't have that much affect on Iraq. The President, however, will have to make nice to people he has up to now pretty much ignored.
Appropriations bills start in the House. If there's no money for staying the course, but money for cutting and running, then cutting and running is what we will do, just like we did in 1975.
