LONDON: Dhiren Barot, the Muslim covert sentenced to life in jail on Tuesday for plotting terror attacks in Britain and the United States, was brought up in a middle-class Hindu household in suburban London.
He turned to the Muslim faith at the age of 20 and subsequently travelled to Pakistan and Afghanistan to learn more about jihad, making contacts there with the Al-Qaeda terror network of Osama bin Laden.
Details of what happened along the way emerged from friends and family as the 34-year-old awaited sentencing in a London court for plotting a "black day for the enemies of Islam and a victory for the Muslims".
Born in the Indian state of Gujarat, Barot's parents moved to England when he was one and settled in the northwest London suburb of Kingsbury, his father becoming a banker while his mother worked at a local supermarket.
He left school at 16 and at 20 quit the family home, telling his parents he had gone to northern England to work, but in fact converting to Islam and staying nearby, already working on his terror plans.
A good-looking young man, Barot gained a qualification in tourism, and decided to go travelling, heading to Pakistan for the first time in 1995 as well as Afghanistan, Kashmir, Thailand, Singapore and other countries.
In a book published in England on his return, he described the transformation he had undergone along the way.
"It is the Islam that is felt by living and dying in the cause of Allah, loving Muslims and hating the enemies of Islam," he wrote, according to The Daily Telegraph newspaper.
Those who knew him described him above all as meticulous, and that emerged in court this week when prosecutors described the detailed plots he prepared -- like "business plans" -- to present to Islamist chiefs in Afghanistan.
In the United States he planned to carry out synchronised attacks, including on the International Monetary Fund and World Bank buildings in Washington but also buildings in New York.
In Britain his plans notably included detonating a so-called "dirty bomb" in central London, and an attack on London's Underground train network beneath the River Thames, aimed at cracking the riverbed to cause maximum devastation.
"Imagine the chaos that would be caused if a powerful explosion were to rip through here and actually rupture the river itself," the prosecution cited Barot as having written.
"That would cause pandemonium, what with the explosions, flooding, drowning et cetera that would occur."
Short, quietly spoken and smartly dressed, Barot was born a Hindu and brought up in a north London suburb by middle-class parents before becoming one of the key figures in international Islamic terrorism.
Barot suggested attacking Tube trains as they passed under the Thames, 'That would cause pandemonium' Family friends told The Daily Telegraph that Barot's father was a disciplinarian who expected his family to follow traditional Indian values.
But the Barots are isolated within their community, many refusing to speak to them because their son has crossed the line dividing Hindus and Muslims. Even worse, he became an extremist bent on destruction. Barot left home at 20 after secretly converting to Islam and only returned when his father had a heart operation several years later. On the way home a government minister referred to the War on Terror as 'Urban Warfare'. It will go on for 25 - 30 years he added.

The West will become effective in the war on terrorism only when it no longer makes a sharp distinction between Islam and militant Islam, but when it understands that the two are parallel political movements whose purpose is the islamization of the world. Whereas the latter uses terror tactics to accomplish its mission, the former will employ less radical means to attain the same goal.
The average citizen will not comprehend this process as long as our politicians continue to preach that Islam is a ‘religion of peace’. Often enough ‘peaceful’ American Muslims have parented jihadist children, who are as perfidious as their Al-Qaeda counterparts, resulting in an unlimited supply of homegrown terrorists.
The West will regret that it does not pay attention to the reality that the Q’uran teaches hatred toward non-Muslims. The Q’uran will not be rewritten; consequently, many ‘devout’ Muslims believe that it is their duty to spread the religion, if necessary, by terrorism. In the history of our nation no group within our society has posed this acute a danger to our national security as Islam does.
Islam will be an everlasting liability to the security of any non-Muslim nation. Anyone who thinks that it is possible to live in harmony with Islam is deluding oneself. One only has to witness the miserable living conditions that non-Muslims suffer in Islamic countries and the discord that exists among Muslim nations. Islam has always been incompatible with Western civilization because of its hostile, despotic and intolerant nature. Throughout history it has demonstrated that its very character is to destroy and forcibly convert all cultures that are not in agreement with its beliefs. One only has to read the history of Muslim conquest of Asia Minor, North Africa and the Far East carried out through intimidation and murder. What justification is there to assume that it has changed its aggressive nature in the 21st century?
There shall never again be tranquility in the US, because of the Muslim presence. We may claim that we are winning the war against terrorism abroad, but it is of no consequence to our national security when militant Islam is allowed to prosper right here at home. One only has to notice the rapid growth in the number of mosques and the fawning deference given to Islam by our news media, politicians and religious leaders. History shows that no western society has survived an influx of Islam. Present-day Europe presents a vivid example of the slow destruction of its culture. The large number of Mexicans that are illegally entering the country is justifiably alarming, but the much greater danger of the Muslim invasion is conveniently ignored for politically correct reasons.
The nation is constantly reminded that the majority of Muslims are not belligerent. Yet no one is willing to exactly quantify the percentage of ‘peaceful Muslims’ within the religion. What if it can be documented that the number of moderate Muslims is so small as to be insignificant, so that our nation can ill afford their presence inside its borders? Will such knowledge be kept a national secret by a politically correct government until such time when the nation self-destructs? Can we, for instance, ever trust a Muslim to be in charge of home security? It is a well-known fact that many Muslim students at American universities openly cheered and hi-fived each other on the day the twin towers collapsed. Campus police stood by powerlessly because of the students’ free speech rights. A significant number of Muslims in our populace despise the US as much as they hate Israel. Israel fully comprehends that submission to Islam is not an option while the US has yet to become aware of this reality.
The US placed a loaded gun against its head when it permitted Muslim immigration. It now slowly pulls the trigger by allowing more Muslims to enter the country. The gun will surely discharge because the situation vis-à-vis Islam will only become more hostile, since the Q’uran will always guide Muslim social behavior. Recent events clearly indicate that a reasoned dialogue with Muslim leaders on religious topics is almost impossible since non-Muslims are regarded as infidels. Mere cartoons are able to inflame a murderous rage among Muslims throughout the world.
It is an outrage to send brave American men and women to fight and die in Muslim countries while continuing to allow Islamic immigration. It is like sending our sons and daughters to the front door to repel an intruder while consciously leaving the back door open to allow entrance into the house by his accomplice. In more principled times this would have been considered treason. American lives are unnecessarily sacrificed because of the limitation imposed on the degree of aggressiveness with which the war is pursued. American armed forces are to be admired not only for their bravery, but even more so for their dedicated service to a country that maintains uncontrolled borders and is pre-occupied with protecting the civil rights of the very enemy that wants to destroy them and their loved ones.
The assertion that Islam has been hijacked by ‘islamofascists’ is used as an excuse for ignoring the true danger to our national security posed by the presence of Islam. No Muslim leader has yet to offer an explanation or apology for Islam’s vicious behavior, worldwide. What is revealed today is the factual face of Islam. Because of the West’s cowardly, feel-good political correctness and its reliance on Muslim oil, Islam no longer has to wear a mask to hide its intentions.
Islam has shown to be a movement that, when practiced in accordance with the teaching of the Q’uran, is more sinister than fascism. Fascist regimes are more honest in that their armed forces do not target innocent civilians and wear recognized military uniforms instead of blending in with non-combatants. In WWII, such faceless individuals were regarded fifth columnists and swiftly dealt with when caught. It is inconceivable that, in the fight against terrorism, we bother to take prisoners when the enemy doesn’t.
It is not unlikely that the war in Iraq will have a disappointing conclusion for the US. It is not because of a lack of effort by our brave military that the endeavor may fail, but because of the fact that Islam and democracy is an oxymoron. Democracy and the Q’uran are not reconcilable, or Muslim countries would have accepted it as a foundation for governing. The fact that Iraqis dipped their fingers in ink as part of the voting procedure was interesting to witness, but it only has limited significance.
How can Iraqi citizens vote for a democratic government when they have only known despotism and repression? Iraq’s northern neighbor instituted democracy almost a century ago but even today true religious freedom is yet to be found in Turkey. Recall that in recent times a priest in Turkey, a nun in Somalia, two Christian girls in Indonesia, a nun in Yemen, a young Christian boy in Iraq and Christian worshippers in Pakistan were brutally murdered – all admittedly done in the name of Islam. All these countries have one thing in common; they are under Islamic rule. Is this how the ‘religion of peace’ acts?
The majority of Muslims look at America’s presence in Afghanistan and Iraq as an unacceptable intrusion of the contemptible infidel into the ‘sacred’ world of Islam. All that we can expect in return for our efforts is the acquisition of millions more of Muslim enemies sworn to destroy us, with many of them ending up in the US through immigration.
Europe and America are left with a singular choice between freedom and Islam. They should understand that it is not possible to have it both ways. If it is the West’s intention to survive it will have to stem the Muslim deluge soon before the point of no return is reached.

Just because he's an idiot....and worse shouldn't mean the family should be ostracized but I guess that's how human nature works.

So true. Both strive towards the same goal, with Islam only criticizing militant Islam for being to hasty- but not wrong. The sooner the western world wakes up to what Islam is, what it has always been since it's creation, the better. The longer we sleep, the more blood it will cost us to eradicate- IF we can eradicate Islam at that point.
Islam has many "friends" in the western world who, without ever having studied the evil cult in it's entirety, how it is structured, the order of the koran, the abrogations in the Koran, etc, etc. believe without question that "islam is a religion of peace" simply because an Islamic apollogist said so.
Islam is what Mohammads last commands were; they abrogate (replace) all earlier sura's with sura 9:5 and others from his last words.
sura 9:5: "Fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war)" sura 5:33: "For those who do not submit to Allah their punishment is execution or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet, from the opposite sides, or exile from the land".
Anyone attempting to make sense out of a koran by simply reading it, won't have any luck. It's a garbled, jumbled up collection of hatefull garbage intended to confuse the reader. You need to learn the life of Mohammad, and learn the hadith, the proper order of events to be able to put the koran in order. Even then, the Koran is a useless book. It even doesn't tell a Muslim when or how to practice their silly (pagan rock god) rituals. For those intersetest in the Korans proper order however, just in case they bought one trying to figure out this retarded cult, cut it up and re- assemble in this order:
