Lack of ballots at NM (heavily GOP) precinct
KOB radio | 11/7/06 | n/a

Posted on 11/07/2006 8:43:47 AM PST by Cooter

Just heard on the radio that a heavily republican precinct in NM district 1 (Wilson / Madrid race) had only 150 printed ballots this morining. As of 7 AM, there were over 200 people in line to vote. This is a mostly GOP-favorable precinct. The poll workers were actucally turning people away, telling them they'll call them (yeah, right) when new ballots are available. Heather Wilson was interviewed and she said it is criminal to have so few ballots (150 for over 2000 registered voters) for this polling location (this problem wasn't reported for Dem-leaning locations, of course). Lawyers for both sides are are on scene.

When Bill Richardson (see can above) was New Mexico's Third District congressman, Rio Arriba County was the nation's highest concentration of heroin-overdose deaths. The late Sheriff Emilio Naranjo was alleged to be the power behind the county political machine. When La Raza candidate Moises Morales became active in attempts at reform, the sheriff's department's deputies "discovered" a bag of marijuana in his pickup truck, eliciting a countercharge of planting contraband.

A friend has said Bill Richardson's political star is inextricably tied to that of the Clinton Janus.

The missing ballots are with the missing Los Alamos National Laboratories nuclear weapon unlock codes--but I state unequivocably, they are not at the Governor's Mansion. Just because Richardson's opponent's communications director was beaten savagely with a tire iron, it does not follow that the governor is a thug.

A coworker in Orlando said his ballot kept getting spit back out of the counting machine. A poll worker came over and when they examined the ballot they found that a Dem candidate had been voted for (but not by him) and it had been "whited out" with that white ink.

He had to sign multiple forms, get back in line and vote again.

White: The color of surrender monkeys.

Kudos to your co-worker for staying and fixing the problem.

then the pollsters should all be arrested for vote fraud.

When arrested they will just be let off by dem judges, unfortunately.

Any idea which way the Wolfforth wet/dry election will go? What about Landtroop/Hefflin?

That's NM business as usual.

As one candidate said a few years ago, New Mexico is a banana republic without the bananas.

I hope Landtroop wins. I worked with Heflin years ago and he is a major tool, aclu is pulling for Heflin. That tells me enough. I hope Wolfforth goes wet... lots of new businesses wanting to come in here.

Anyone heard recently how she's doing? Any progress identifying the thug that did it (she said he was Hispanic, I believe)?

(FYI and IIRC, the attack was at dusk, in a bank parking lot along a busy highway across the street from a convenience store where paramedics had stopped for a break; they didn't hear/see anything and it was sometime before help came to her aid)

I'm pulling for a "wet Wolfforth" too. I live closer to the Strip than I do Wolfforth, but I want it to pass just to spite those mobbed-up Strip owners.

What yahoos predicted a 7.5% turn-out and on what set of facts

They should have one ballot for every registered voter, not go into predictions of turnout.

NM has a long history of these kind of issues.

Last presidental election, the voter machinces would dump a straight Rep ticket choice.
Seems there was a software issue......

Is there any new info about this situation? I'm sure Jim Villanucci will be all over it this afternoon.

I've been away from the radio. If I hear anything on the news at the top of the hour I'll be sure to post.

I'm not the biggest Villanucci flan, but he'll be spun up and off his meds about this. Richard better keep his smarmy trap shut, and if they put CFA on I'll scream.

CFA, LOL. I'm glad I'm not that guy, he sounds depressed all the time. I'm surprised he hasn't offed himself yet, what with the Republicans being in the white house for two terms and all.

I am SO tired of this Banana Republic. I drove by a polling place in Taos county and the dems were holding signs right outside the door.
