Tell us what you saw today at your voting place.
Arrived 15 minutes early to my polling place after spending all night flying. I vote in Colorado's 5th District which is VERY conservative and happens to be the district of the church the Evangelical minister was just fired from. According to the MSM all the conservatives in this district are VERY demoralized. Certainly too demoralized to vote. Sooo, I got there 15 minutes early and the line went out the door. By the time I voted (straight R), the line went about 75 yards into the parking lot. I asked a lady who voted when I did (she lives across the street from the polling location) if this was typical, and she said it was the first time she's seen it like that. So much for demoralized voters.
Dude....that sounds like someone voted for you (like a dimrat maybe). I'll put your vote in my prayers so it'll count for the republicans........
I would have shit a pile right then and there if my poll person had said that to me while I had the ballot in my hands......
Voted around 7:30am in my very republican district in the shore area of NJ. Turnout at that hour was light (as it usually is) and one of the new voting machines was already on the fritz. The poor guy monitoring it was on the phone with someone while working on the computer section of the machine. He was clearly frustrated.
St.Petersburg, Florida - every vote station was filled and refilled quickly -- less than a 5 minute wait.
Our Republican governor, Jodi Rell, is going to walk over the kooky Destefano (whose campaign platform consists of a full scale assault on the law of supply and demand). Lieberman should win, if people can find his name. It was sort of strange with it down so far. Shays is in a tough race, as are the other 2 Connecticut Republican reps. (Connecticut has 3 Rs and 2 Ds in its congressional delegation, as we have non-partisan folks do the gerrymandering, and Dems are heavily clustered in New Haven and Hartford).
The local state senator will win, the local state rep is unopposed (both are Republicans). The rest of the state-wide offices (AG, Treasurer) will go heavily democrat, the Republicans sadly have no bench in this state.
We voted using the optical scanner. I was a little bothered because after filling out the ballot we were told to slide it in the slot below instead of into the scanner. Could somone tell me if this is normal. The lady said they still had to hook it into a larger machine. I figured it would be easy for someone to pitch some of them if they handled them before counting them
Interesting interview. Thanks.
I'm in PA, suburb of Phily, and the Dems were out in big numbers working the place. But when I looked to see what sample voting tickets people were taking, they were mostly Republican. I live in a traditional Republican stronghold that is turning Dem, went for Kerry in the last election. My guess it was because this was the crowd that works which is the reason we were out early.
Wish I could tell you something, but I and my family voted early via absentee. It sure felt good to vote Republican!
Yeah, Another ST Pete FReeper. How ya doin? Want to get together for a beer to celebrate the victory?
Me too - sometimes I'll go for a dem or two, but I'm as mad as you are - I voted straight Republican. Thanks John Kerry, for reminding me of dem's true colors...
Jean Schmidt (Oh-2) tried to vote this morning but the optical scanners were busted. They had video of her trying to vote. They said they were going to store the ballots, and scan them later when they got machines working.
That is a disaster waiting to happen.
"????????"
Bawehahhaha...that's funny! Courage.....COURAGE! Hang in there!
Stone county Mississippi... new Diebold machines and no problems... heavy turnout so far... better than early morning voting in 2004. Most of the talk among those waiting was NOT very good for dims!!! Heard carry's name twice!
LLS
Voted at 7:00AM Dallas time. Was really pumped. Turner Classic Movies played "1776" last night. What better story to tell and retell!
Voting in PA-4 [Hart(R) is the Congresscritte]) slightly after 0800 (polls opened at 0700). Location is 20 E of Pittsburgh. More cars than usual in parking lot. I think that the turnuout at the instant I was there was slightly in excess of 2004, which was the heaviest I have previously seen.
Your welcome and that's what I thought....but the interview didn't sound good for my guy DeWhine. I think Rove expects a senate loss in Ohio.
Palm Beach County, FL..........8:00 a.m. - no wait!
We had to share a polling place with another precinct as our church is being renovated, and still no wait! Also, the local weatherman keeps reminding us to vote early, as the rain will begin at noon and become heavy as the day wears on. Looking good for the good guys!
Ah, a typical Dim voter putting in a typical (for them) productive day at work. Hope she doesn't pass out before Oprah comes on.
