The Possible Embargo List of Japanese Luxury Goods

The following items are from the list compiled by Segye Ilbo. I only included Japanese products which are reviewed by Japanese government to be banned for export to N. Korea, in compliance with U.N. sanction slapped against luxury goods destined for N. Korea. The original list also contains some products from S. Korea or European countries. Some items below are really cheap, and may not make the final list, such as Kikkoman soy sauce and Rawang instant noodle.

I added a picture of each item to show what it looks like.

Tsukiji Tuna
Matsuzaka Beef
Nagoya Cochin(chicken)
Nissan's Rawang(?) Instant Noodle
Kikkoman Soy Sauce
Bunmeido Cake(Kasutera)
Suntory Imperial Whisky(the one shown below is Hibiki, probably not "Imperial")
NEC Personal Computer
Daikin Air Conditioner
Toyota Celsior
Mazda RX7
Honda CB250
Yamaha Virago

Re #1

Note: The food items above are known to be Kim Jong-il's favorite. Other items are also favored by Kim Jong-il for personal use or as gifts to his underlings.

Never tried Suntory whisky, how is it? I'm a big scotch fan.

I'm sure Kim can muddle through as long as he gets his Cognac. And anyway, he can no doubt count on his Democrat chums in America to ship him a personal Care Package if he begins to feel too deprived.

Suntory whiskey is a well-kept secret--it's actually pretty smooth, though of course it's not as good as Maker's Mark whiskey.

I hope they keep the shoyu and ramen on the list. Any Japanese consumer goods must be luxurious in North Korea.
