I have maligned her, if you can indeed malign a liberal pro-abort. I've referred to her quite often as "Blago in a dress." I even--boy, this was painful--voted for the clueless "Taliban Jim" Oberweis in an effort to keep her away from the nomination. But tomorrow I will be putting a clothespin on my nose and voting for Judy Baar Topinka, and here are the reasons why:
1. Blagojevich forced pharmacists to fill prescriptions that they felt were murderous. Topinka, while believing that the scripts should be filled, has said that if she had been governor she would have met with pharmacists to try to find a compromise. The difference between those two positions is the difference between being a fascist and being merely wrong.
2. Topinka opposes using taxpayer dollars to pay for abortions. Blagojevich is happy to foot the bill.
3. Topinka supports parental notification. In answer to a Daily Herald questionnaire on the issue, she wrote: "Today, a child in Illinois cannot be given an aspirin at school without parental approval, but we would allow that same child to go to a stranger and have an invasive medical procedure without her family even being informed." Meanwhile, if some 22 year old wants to bring his 13 year old girlfriend to the local abortuary no questions asked, Blago gives it the big thumbs-up.
4. Topinka supports a school choice tax credit to help people afford to take their kids out of government schools. Blago is dead set against it.
5. Topinka supports filters on school and library Internet systems. Blago opposes them.
6. Topinka is 100% solid on 2nd Amendment rights. Blago even called her a shill for the NRA. They endorsed her four years ago, and they are endorsing her today.
7. Consider the undying love Blago got for his fascist approach to pharmacists, and the derision Topinka gets for agreeing with most Americans on parental notification and taxpayer-funded child-killing:
Outside of the state of Illinois, he is known as one of the most pro-choice governors and has done more to protect womens reproductive health than just about anyone. ...[Topinka's] trying to have it both ways and it isnt going to fly."--Terry Cosgrove, president of Chicago-based Personal PAC, a hardcore pro-abortion special interest.
8. Planned Parenthood has endorsed Blagojevich. They know which candidate will be best for their business.
9. Blago wants to pour millions into useless and ethically dismal embryonic stem cell research. This would be irresponsible at any time, but during the current budget crisis it's insane. Topinka has called Blago's actions "deceptive" and said she would not spend any more money on stem cell research until the budget crisis is solved.
10. Blago feels that parents should be out of the loop on mental health screenings of their kids. Topinka wants strict parental consent.
We are going to have a liberal governor here in Illinois for the next four years. That is simply reality. The question is, will we have a governor who wants to take our guns and use our money to kill babies? Will we have a governor who thinks parents should be parents, or one who wants the state or Planned Parenthood to do that job for them? That's our choice. Vote accordingly, my FRiends, and take a good-hearted Illinoisan to the polls with you.
Thanks a ton for doing GOTV; wish I'd been able to this year.
"I think George Ryan is a great Governor." Judy Barr Enabler.
Bite me, loser.
L
Is that the best you can do?
You said she was anti-2nd Amendment before she was pro-.
I gave you factual evidence you are wrong. You give me two irrelevant quotes out of context, and call me a name.
Is that the best you can do? Obviously it is!
JBT said George Ryan was a "great" governor. He's facing a virtual death sentence for his well documented corruption.
It was a mistake to nominate her. She's a tainted loser and she went down to a well deserved defeat.
Perhaps those morons at the IL RCC will nominate a real Republican during my lifetime.
What I really hope for is a few more indictments to clean those scumballs out of the IL GOP.
L
You said she "was anti- before she was pro-."
You are wrong.
I'm glad she lost, and I'm glad to have helped her lose.
Next time, support a real pro-freedom candidate in the IL GOP and I'll vote for whomever it is.
Until then...piss off.
And have fun with the upcoming indictments downstate.
L
I'll have nothing to do with those handpicked losers the IL RCC puts up anymore.
JBT deserved to lose this race. I'm glad she did.
If one tried for months to pick a worse candidate than JBT, it would still be an incredibly difficult thing to pull off.
She wasn't just a 'hold your nose' RINO. She was a putrid, rotting, festering walking corpse left over from the malodorously corrupt Ryan administration. She was an either criminally negligent or unforgivably stupid.
The only bright spot in tonight's results seems to be Roskam winning.
Other than the the IL GOP has been shown to be a disgustingly empty suit, as usual.
L
"I've known George for years. Illinois Right to Life wouldn't endorse this guy over Poshard if he wasn't a true believer. Do you really think RTF backs closet pro-aborts? Geeeesh. You people are soooo ignorant. George Ryan provided THE swing vote to KILL the ERA amendment in the 1980s. George Ryan has ALWAYS been PRO-LIFE. How DARE you accuse George Ryan of not being pro-life. He was WITH US in the legislature and he'll be WITH US as Governor. Think about how BAD things will be if the DEMOCRATS win Illinois in 1998. Vote for RYAN, he can WIN!!!"
Substitute the word "pro-life" instead of "pro-2nd amendment" and Fideist has simply parroted the SAME tired B.S. "talking points" of conservatives who shoved Lyin' Ryan down our throats in 1998. I'd bet my right arm that Mr. Silverback and fideist GLADLY voted for that SOB Lyin' Ryan in '98 and bought the "Ryan is our buddy"propanganda hook, line, and sinker. These guy's will let Lucy pull the football away from them every single time.
Note that phony reformer Governor Hairspray got ONLY 49% of the vote tonight, but "electable moderate" Judas got 40% instead of the remaining 51%. It wasn't that Blago has big support, it's that Judas is a corrupt lying b---- who has NO support.
The backstabbing RINO faced MASSIVE defections of the anti-Blago vote to third parties, and rightfully so.
I'm glad "electable moderate" Judas Barf TooPinko went down in flames tonight and "unelectable right wing extremist" Peter Roskam was one of the FEW Republicans to crush a hand picked "anti-war waro hero" candidate recruited by Rahm. Note that Peter Roskam is MUCH futher to the right on guns than Henry Hyde. Our Congressional delegation actually moved to the RIGHT tonight while Judas went down in flames.
So much for the "RINOs are more electable" crap. I'm sure the Judas apologists are weaping tonite, thinking about how much "better" things would be in George Ryan II had won the election. Tell you what, you guys call up Judas and get her a nice position of power in your area.
YOU guys enjoy her reign of higher taxes, more spending, government waste, corruption, fraud, gay marriage parades, and abortion on demand. I sure as hell won't be a part of it.
Get out your circular saw and chop that arm off. I did not gladly vote for, much less campaign for, George Ryan in '98, because I did not buy any propaganda that portrayed him as a conservative guy. Nice try.
Also, it looks to me like you read the title of this piece and reacted without even reading the first paragraph. If you had read the first para, you would know that accusing me of supporting Topinka as an "electable moderate" makes about as much sense as as accusing me of being a spy for the Klingon Empire.
her reign of higher taxes, more spending, government waste, corruption, fraud, gay marriage parades, and abortion on demand. I sure as hell won't be a part of it.
No, you're right. You'll just be part of the exact same stuff under Blago, only it will be worse. Congratulations.
I don't know where all your bitchy PMS rancor against me comes from. I am a patriotic, committed, hardcore pro-lifer who tried to make the best out of a disaster, a disaster brought on us in part by people too "principled" to make sure she went under in the primaries. Yet you treat me like some sort of traitor. Sorry, but we were going to have a liberal governor for four years, so I figured I'd rather have the one with the NRA "A" rating instead of the one with the Planned Parenthood endorsement.
Now, let's see if you can live up to your own standards: Who did you vote for in the primary?
Who did you vote for in the primary?
