Sat. Nov. 11 and Sunday, Nov. 12: The Museum will be open to visitors but my papers do not show a time. Please check the contacts below.
Additional info can be obtained from Marine Heritage or hopefully by calling this number, 1-800-297-1421 from literature about the Museum.
There are two reasons for this thread.
First, if any FReepers are going to either event, maybe we can get together at the parking areas or at the site. [Mrs] Trooprally and I are only going to the Friday event but will pass along info to FReepers going to the other events. Freepmail us and we'll put pass your name to others going the other days.
Second, if you attend any of the weekend's events, this thread can be a place to post your pictures for all to view.
See Trooprally's Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Thread with info on the engraved bricks and Leadpenny's Marine Museum Advances Thread with pictures of the construction.
Hey, sorry I didn't show up. I just knew that I wasn't up to a trip from Lynchburg to Quantico at 0-dark-thirty the morning after the Marine Corps Ball. I did get to talk with guys who were with my son at the bitter end, and I had to be there for that. I learned a little bit, and got a little closer with our Marine Corps family. And family is what it is all about.
Semper Fidelis,
It is good to know you had the opportunity to visit with the "family" and I hope it helped you.
How befitting that modern roof in the shape of Marines raising the flag on mount Suribachi so many years before.
thanks for the ping on additional pics.
Happy belated birthday to the Corps!
I was wondering, is there an exhibit honoring Colonel John Boyd? There is (or was) an exhibit honoring him at Quantico, and I wondered if they might have moved it. You wouldn't have been able to miss it, he was an Air Force officer and would have been depicted wearing his uniform. If they moved the Quantico exhibit it would be a life-sized statue of him wearing a flight suit.
I only saw two statues (pics in Trooprally's link of Museum) and neither were outfitted in an Air Force uniform.
Maybe Mudpuppy saw something on Saturday.

Didn't notice any ood-a-loop :)
I didn't see it but we ran through the exhibits and things aren't completely finished yet either.
But ... is it done yet? I want you to come back to "the corners"!
Wonderful! And thank you for the great photos. I'll ping my list here...
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my miscellaneous ping list.
