NEW YORK In a city where you can get just about anything delivered to your door _ groceries, dry cleaning, Chinese food _ pot smokers are increasingly ordering takeout marijuana from drug rings that operate with remarkable corporate-style attention to customer satisfaction. An untold number of otherwise law-abiding professionals in New York are having their pot delivered to their homes instead of visiting drug dens or hanging out on street corners. Among the legions of home delivery customers is Chris, a 37-year-old salesman in Manhattan. He dials a pager number and gets a return call from a cheery dispatcher who takes his order for potent strains of marijuana. Within a couple of hours, a well-groomed delivery man _ sometimes a moonlighting actor or chef _ arrives at the doorstep of his Manhattan apartment carrying weed neatly packaged in small plastic containers. "These are very nice, discreet people,"said Chris, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition only his first name be used."There's an unspoken trust. It's better than going to some street corner and getting ripped off or killed."

Well not knowing how to tax something never stopped Gov't before. In Massachusetts I have heard one is supposed to declare income made through illegal means in addition to anything one buys out of state or over the internet. They also sell protection money. If you don't want to take the time to declare everything made this way you can just pay a fee based on your income...a get out of jail free card. No questions asked if perhaps something (ahem) should turn up. ;-)
Just google "pot tax"
Heh, that's only half of the equation.
The government loves SPENDING money more than it likes taking it in. WoD boondoggles constitute a lot of pork.
Now, that's a slander on MA -- they only had that line on the tax form for two years! (I can't even imagine how much it brought in!)
Let the beatnicks and the far left lead you around by the nose and become a dopehead, just like them. Those are some good leadership examples you dopeheads are following.
My neighbor runs a Domino's ... their "everything" pizza is called an EXTRAGANZA ,, he has been known to make "EXTRAVAGANGA" pizza's for special customers...
WHAT? No jokes about "Mr. nice guy" Dave Chapells delivery company in Half Baked?

What can Brown do for you?
You are right, one can't argue with logic as sound as yours. As of today swear to you I'll take up the Republican virtues given to us by a couple of our nation's better known conservative talk show hosts. I will be sure to marry and divorce three times, smoke cigars, consume adult beverages, become addicted to pain pills and bet millions of dollars at casinos. ;-)
So now income from illegal means is tax free! Now that's progress! ;-)
I'd be more than happy to quit my OTR trucking job to be a local delivery boy.
My logic? I am not sure what logic you are using. I hope you are not trying to deny that the far left counter-culture of the sixties did indeed create the modern American pothead/dopehead culture we suffer with today.
That is well evidenced in your response. Just to make things clear to you, drug use is a moral vice, but so are things like drinking, smoking and gambling. All these things can lead to some level of self-destruction if not done responsibly and in moderation. Republicans support the continued criminalization of the former while they tolerate or participate in the latter. Essentially what folks like you are saying is something along the lines of "Republican/conservative vices are okay, yours are criminal". IOW, I was trying to show you the hypocrisy of it all coming from the Right on this issue.
IMO, folks like you have blinded yourselves to the underlying injustices and inconsistencies of the drug laws because you associate that particular vice with folks who have a differing politcal philosophy than yours. The truth is that vices of all types have been indulged by human beings since time immemorable. It's silly to claim otherwise, as you do by pointing to the 1960's counter-culture. In fact, they were trying to point out the same hyporcrisy I mentioned above. The self-righteous rarely see their own moral failings (hypocrisy in this case), be they personal or political (political in this case). ;-)
Are you saying that some things are moral vices? How do you (you personally) know that some things are moral vices? What is your measuring stick for making that determination?
As far as the modern dopehead/pothead movement, it most certainly was created by the extreme far left such as those who presently dominate the Democrat and extreme liberal parties.
Here's a hypothetical for you to further illustrate my point. The two units of a duplex apartment are rented to two single men, both about the same age, with similar jobs and incomes. The man in Unit A gets drunk every night, the man in Unit B smokes pot everynight. Morally, the behaviors are the same, seeking intoxication. But legally, the state won't arrest the man in apt. A for getting drunk everynight in his home, but can arrest and prosecute the guy in Apt. B. whether he smokes everyday or once a year, the mere possession of the pot is the crime regardless of how much he smokes.
As the law treats the same moral behavior of these two men differently before the law, by definition we have injustice (unequal treatment before the law). Either both should be legal or both should be illegal.
To choose the middle ground and keep one legal and the other illegal is to incorporate injustice into the law. I find this immoral, you make think differently.
As to the 60's counter-culture, I will cede the point to you in that they brought it out into the open, but there was plenty of pot smoking going on before they did what they did.
Wouldn't take too much work to infiltrate this and bag a whole boatload of druggie scum, both users and dealers.
Yup, get a whole bunch of misdemeanor possession charges, and maybe a couple of felonies agreggating several 2 gram sales into an ounce or two on couriers that are probably college kids whos other option was a pizza delivery job.
Good work Officer Stadanko...
Are you saying that since Rush or Bill Bennett are not perfect they cannot be opposed to any moral vice? Rush can't oppose abortion because he smokes cigars?
Tell me who in the history of the United States was ever morally perfect? What is your criteria for a man being able to stand against moral vice? Is moral perfection your standard?
Serves them right!
