Va. Senate Race Comes Down To Wire
Candidates To Criss-Cross State Monday

VIENNA, Va. -- Sen. George Allen and his opponent Jim Webb will be traveling around the state on this final day of campaigning before the midterm elections.

Allen tried to greet voters at the Vienna Metro station, in Vienna, Va., during the morning rush hour, but he was mobbed by reporters, supporters and protesters.

There was a little shoving and a lot of shouting, making it almost impossible for anyone to hear what the Republican had to say.

Allen urged his supporters to turn out to vote Tuesday. He told them, "The world is controlled by those who show up."

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan also showed up at the Vienna Metro Station. She said she came to Virginia to support anti-war candidates. She includes Democrat Webb in that category.

Allen is scheduled to hold more rallies Monday in Roanoke, Norfolk and Richmond.

Webb spent time Sunday targeting voters in Grundy, Va. Webb has scheduled rallies Monday in Roanoke, Norfolk and Richmond.

Webb will end his day of campaigning in Alexandria with former President Bill Clinton.

Because this is such a tight race, both candidates have hired teams of lawyers to work on their behalf, in case of a recount, News4 reported.

This would never happen to Jim Moran, who often appears at Metro stops during election years.

Hampton Roads pastors endorse Allen; Webb also in southeast Va. (11/6/06)

HAMPTON, Va. About 20 ministers from predominantly black churches in southeast Virginia endorsed Republican incumbent George Allen today in the hotly contested Virginia Senate race.

Bishop Oried (oh-REED') Graves of the Hosannah Christian Church of Suffolk said he believes that Allen is ... quote ... "the man of the hour to carry Virginia into the future."

The minister said during a news conference in Hampton that the top reason they support Allen is because he is backing the amendment that would ban same-sex marriage.

Pastor Harold Whack of the New Covenant Christian Fellowship in Hampton said support goes beyond marriage. He said ... quote ... "It's time for patriots to stand up in America."

Sure it would. It's just that Moran would be the one trying to start a fight.

Moran would take a swing at 'em and still get re-elected ...

Hope these pastors didn't make these comments at church; otherwise they lose their 501 C(3)

LOL!! That's what I was gonna say, except with Moran assaulting women and minority children.

This is hot - my wife has an assistant in her office (black), and she and her church are all voting GOP this election cycle - all because of the Gay Marriage issue.

That's because northern Virginia is a mini-socialist state.

I still don't understand, after many years in politics, why Democrats want to tax more and defend the country less.

I'm voting several times tomorrow!

If there's any significant shift in the black voting percentage, Webb's gonna get stomped tomorrow.

However, I'll still be delivering brochures door-to-door this afternoon. Webb could win this thing, but I don't plan on letting him!

This is something that hasn't been given the weight that it should. Allen is also has split the woman vote the problem is that Webb has peeled off some of the male vote. I think this race is still Allen's to lose. Unlike Kilgore Allen has the support to push him over the edge. Last election Kilgore was running clearly behind Kaine at this time and those GOP candidates who were running ahead or even did win Attorney General and Ltn. Governor. Past results may not be indicators of future returns but I'm still betting on Allen. The devoted conservative base is far larger than the devoted liberal base.
The issue is getting that vote out.

Arlington has ALOT of recent immigrants - both legal and illegal. Lot's of Koreans and Arabs hire the illegal Mexicans, they are hard workers. And they can pretty much not have to pay taxes on them.

Probably the last thing in the world the Webb campaign wanted right now...don't you love how the lefties screw people over while they think they're helping them? (see: minimum wage, welfare, entitlements, affirmative action, etc.)

Its interesting, I saw bleeps of this on in the MSM not a mention of Cindy Sheehan being there. Gee, wasn't it just yesterday that you couldn't get away from a Cindy Sheehan story if you tried? I'd think the MSM and Dem's like Webb would be spotlighting their "rock star". Yet another example of how the MSM & the Dem's tried to manipulate public opinion with a "victim" and it backfired.
