Matthews: 'I'm Smiling Because I Think It's Going To Be a Wipe-Out'

Chris Matthews just couldn't wipe that grin off his face. Interviewing him on this morning's 'Today,' Meredith Vieira began by suggesting that despite the tough electoral environment for Republicans, polls over the weekend were showing movement in their direction. She started to pose a question, but so distracting was Matthews' mugging that she couldn't continue, asking instead "why are you smiling?"
Replied Matthews:
"Because I think it's going to be a wipe-out. I think the Democrats are going to carry the House by 20-some, high-20s and I think the Senate seats are perhaps not six, but five, and I can see a big victory for the Democrats."
Video here.
Matthews went on to sound a cautionary note to Dems about not dancing in the end zone. And no doubt he would seek to explain his smile and response as reflecting his amusement at the suggestion that the election might be close, not his satisfaction with the anticipated outcome. But does anyone believe he would have been equally gleeful had he been convinced Republicans were heading toward a big victory?

Hannity is an admitted conservative who hosts a conservative talk show aimed at conservatives. He makes no pretension to objectivity and presents a conservative viewpoint. He is the conservative on Fox opposite the liberal Combs on a show which attempts to present both sides of the issues.
Chrissy is the sole host of a news magazine show which pretends to be objective.

There's a huge difference. Sean is open about being a partisan. He is there to give a conservative/GOP take on things. Matthews is ostensibly an 'objective' reporter and recently denied on his show being a Democrat

Amen! Chris Matthews - thank you for sending a few MORE undecideds out to the voting booths - to prove him wrong - again!!!
To: DCPatriot
Chrissy should be held professionally accountable for his obvious DNC cheerleading. Then so should Sean Hannity for his obvious RNC cheerleading. Just an observation. Sean is upfront with his RNC views and that is his role as a debater with the DNC counterpart, Alan Colmes.
Matthews is suppose to be an objective, neutral, political analyst.

Matthews has always been a democrat. I have watched his sorry show maybe a total of 10 times and the majority of those shows were during the '04 election season when he hosted the candidate forums in college arenas.

FNC is at a turning point. They could go either way. My guess is we won't know until they replace Britt Hume who is rumored to be leaving within the next year. His wife having already left.
If they go Chris Wallace it's over. If they choose a fair and balanced Hume type, don't know who that would be, there is still a chance.

Not really.Really. Colmes is a mannequin for all intent and purposes.
Just because the name of the show is Hannity AND Colmes doesn't mean Hannity's radio show should be dismissed.
IOW, Matthews has found a niche and he enjoys an audience for democratic liberals.
Nowadays, the leftist bias of the MSM and their transparent cheerleading for the DNC is right out in the open. Screw Matthews.

FNC ratings are already beginning to freefall, so if a decent management or business decision were made, we know what that would be.
Thing is, these broadcasting companies never make good business decisions.

America will win more seats in the Senate and Congress. People are smart and they know what is important. Remember to upseat Rinos are during the primaries. You may not agree with the Republican Party 100% but it sure is tough to agree with the Democrat Party 2% of the time.

AH, yes but his counterweight is the inestimable Alan Colmes. You see, Fox is fair and balanced.
Just a fact.

Dems dont get it. You can make a mistake, but you cannot insult family. When you insult the troops you hit a chord.
Democrats lost it when Kerry insulted the troops.
People dont listen to politicians, until their neighbors start saying: "hey did you hear what that politician said about our boys?" WE HEARD YOU LOUD AND CLEAR.
MESS WITH THE TROOPS...MESS WITH AMERICA. DEMS GOING DOWN.
