FReepers Air Force daughter cannot vote in this election! OUTRAGEOUS!
Rovember 5, 2006 | Gitmo Sailor

My daughter is in the Air Force!

I just found out that she won't be able to vote!

She is stationed in the Azores!

Why won't our government let our Military vote?

If the military vote was included we wouldn't have a second Clinton scumbering!!

We need to have some way for all our Soldier's votes to count when the Clinton 2008 War machine races into action to take over the WH again.

Long time ago we had Mike Pappas. He sang Twinke Twinkle Little Star in the congress.

His re-election was stolen. The votes were in and he had won. Suddenly, magically, more votes appeared and his opponent won.

I was so naive then. Eight years of Reagan, four years of Bush....never occurred to me that Presidential elections would be fodder for theft in the military.

I would agree with you. Each unit has a voter assistance officer. They are very good about assisting with getting absentee ballots for service members. Its the individual service members responsibility to see the voter assistance officer and make sure their ballot request is sent in on time (early!).

In twenty years of military service I voted in every election. I can't obviously say that my vote was counted (as I have no way of verifying that), but I always received my ballot and sent it back to my voting district in Connecticut on time.

Back in the 1970's, when the voting age was lowered
from 21 down to 18, it was much because of the DEMs
claiming that "if one was old enough to fight, one
was old enough to vote". This on the heels of the
uncomfortable Vietnam aftermath.

However, now today, as a new generation of American
heroes have come to the defense of their Country,
the DEMs feel that if you are of voting age and
"foolish" enough to join the military; then
somehow your vote is no longer merited.

In fact ex-felons somehow deserve to vote more.
SHAME on you libbie SOBs!!........JJ61

I spent 30 years in the military and never had a problem voting. You just have to request an absentee balot at least 6 weeks before the election.

To Whom It May Conern:

If you are overseas and have applied for but have not received your state ballot, request a Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot from your Embassy/Consulate or online at

Notary/Witness Requirements

If you do not provide a passport number, your FPCA and the certificate on the ballot return envelope must be sworn to before a notary, another individual authorized to administer oaths, or a commissioned or noncommissioned officer (not below the rank of sergeant or its equivalent) of the military.

FAQ's

Q: Can someone else fill out the FPCA for me?

A: Yes, the FPCA can be completed and submitted for a Uniformed Service member or dependent by their immediate family member (spouse, parent, sister, brother, or child over 18 years of age). The family member must sign the signature line with their name and state their relationship to you, the applicant.

Q: What should I do if I don't receive my absentee ballot in a timely manner?

She can't vote? I voted the entire time I was in the Air Force. I sent a request for an absentee ballot to my home jurisdiction. They sent me the ballot. I voted and mailed it back to them. There was plenty of time.

We need more information. Did this woman not ask for an absentee ballot from her voting jurisdiction? Did the Air Force refuse to send her mail?

Voting is a right. It is also a responsibility. It is up to each voter to ascertain what is required to vote and to follow those rules.

I question this. My best guess is that she did not get her absentee ballot in time to vote and mail it. That is her fault, not that of the Air Force.
