Good. Hope you put the "no beverages" warning on it.

My point is that there is NO question that the news division has taken a decidedly leftward slant in the past few years, then where FOX NEWS started ten years ago.

Now the ratings are tanking, just like newspaper circulation numbers. I see a correlation.

Does anyone here believe that the Fox News of 1998, would have interviewed a disgraced and fired CBS News Anchor as an "expert" on Saddam Hussein?

There's a disconnect unless they think America is stupid.

No disconnect. They do think we are stupid. Morons, in fact. Cretins for certain. Angry, racist, xenophobic, homophobic, Islamiphobic, rabid haters of all things not Christian. It is their educated world view of small town America and red state values.

On somethings they're right. Most Americans are rather provincial, concerned with what's happening locally, perhaps too overly focused on television and music and the "artists" portrayed on and singing in them. But that hardly makes folks stupid. We're not too worried about what other country's people think of us unless they happen to be trying to blow us up or fly our own airplanes into our major buildings. Call it old fashioned, but I think it's good for the world that Americans focus in, not outward. We could REALLY build an empire with our wealth and might if we wanted to. After all, they say we're imperialists. Woe to the world if this was true!

So when the DBM say something because they believe it, does it make it true? No. But they love their little myths. If challenged, they'd fall apart like a house of cards. It's just that they're not used to being challenged.

Remember when the DBM pitched a fit when George W. Bush couldn't name the president of Pakistan? Of course, everyone of the DBM could. Not one had to look it up (/sarcasm). Frankly, I'd love to be able to interview members of the media with all kinds of "gotcha" questions. I'll bet I would prove more than a few to be idiots themselves.

IMHO, this election is also about the DBM. I'll be very happy to see things go against them this year.

Thank you, as always for this thread.

Quick question: Are these shows taped? If so, do you know when?

If so, we all may need to remember this, vis-a-vis the talking points and predictions about the election on Tuesday.

Thanks!

Question is it normal for your Secretary of Defense to stay out of politics.

I know that this is Rummy's stock answer that the President has asked him not to get involved in politics but is this normal?

As a Brit where our Secretary of Defence is an elected MP this seem rather strange to me.

They teased over footage of the Fox crew snagging the smug MemoGate creator at DFW before going into commercial before the last segment with the "Obsession" dude.

MTP starts with Richard "War should be illegal" Engel, talking about Saddam's death sentence. It could take several months to get through the appeals process. Timmy playing up that the verdict will encourage the sectarian violence. Members of the Baath party have vowed to carry out attacks, but it hasn't amounted to much so far. Now Timmy questions the timing of the verdict. Iraqis abswolutely deny it, but Saddam's lawyer doesn't agree.

Schmuckie avoids sounding completely stupid by not picking up the bait about the timing of the Saddam verdict. Says it won't matter. Rahm says we haven't accomplished much in Iraq. Tell that to our military men and women, Rahm, to their faces.

Chris asks, "What did Republicans get by controlling all 3 branches of government?"

^^^^^^

What can we expect from "political" commentators who do not even understand what the 3 branches of U S government are!!!

The dems started spinning this lie when we regained the Majority in the Senate.

Russert is mentioning political reports (e.g. Evans-Novak, Cook Report, etc) that predict big gains for Dems in House and Senate...

Rahm will NOT say he is confident of a dem takeover. His nose is running and he looks tired. Reynolds looks like he doesn't want to be sitting next to him.

Russert asked Schumer about Senate races in Maryland and NJ. Schumer says they feel confident about winning both those Senate seats...

FNS

Jim Talent (MO) couldn't find time to appear on FNS with McCaskell?

Big, huge error.

No wonder Talent has fallen 2 points behind McCaskell. He was slightly ahead earlier in the week.

Why would he forgo an appearance on FNS?

I saw that. Jim Pinkerton slapped that one down saying that she didn't need to do any campaigning that the folks in SF would vote her in regardless. Kirin was giving Ellen a bit of a hard time asking where Nancy was and it had been rumored that they were keeping her out of sight because she might say something (paraphrasing).

Looks like she popped here head out of hiding - hope this gets out some:

Pelosi's countdown: She ticks off a list of changes, including a new Iraq strategy

In an interview from her Capitol office, Pelosi characterized Tuesday's vote as a referendum on the war, shrugged off President Bush's efforts to make her liberalism a national issue, described the current GOP leadership as a "freak show," and expressed confidence about her party's prospects to pick up the 15 seats it needs for a majority.

"We're going to take back the country for the American people -- Democrats and Republicans alike -- because it has been held hostage by the radical right wing of the Republican Party," Pelosi said.

"This is a freak show, and it has to come to an end," Pelosi said. "This is about a Congress and White House whose purpose is to concentrate wealth into the top 1 percent of our country at the expense of the middle class."

If Democrats win, and Speaker Dennis Hastert is forced to hand the gavel to Pelosi, "I'll receive it, in my view, from the hands of special interests on behalf of America's future."

Hmmm, Chuckie doesn't look too triumphal either. Timmy keeps citing the bad poll numbers for Pubbies. Oh, goody, he has Corker at 50 and Ford at 38.
