By CHRISTOPHER BODEEN, Associated Press Writer 38 minutes ago
SNIP
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraq's prime minister on Saturday urged his countrymen to accept the impending verdict against Saddam Hussein without violence, then in the next breath declared the former dictator must get "what he deserves" with the decision that could send him to the gallows.

Now, do they keep him alive for a dozen more trials or will they carry out the sentence from just this trial? I recall early on that they were going to try him for many crimes. Good question! The sooner he's dead the more Iraqi and American soldier lives can be saved. He's more valuable to the terrorists alive

Former US Atty. Gen. Ramsey Clark, has warned that a death sentence for Hussein surely would lead to increased violence.

I hear the appeals process only lasts 30 days and then execution is carried out. Wish we had that in California.

The Democrats will blame Bush for having Saddam sentenced today to influence the elections this week. Where's Nancy? That's her job! Let them look soft on terrorists and murderers.

I understand they can execute him and still have the other trials in absentia, as it were.
