Iraq urges calm ahead of Saddam verdict

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraq's prime minister on Saturday urged his countrymen to accept the impending verdict against Saddam Hussein without violence, then in the next breath declared the former dictator must get "what he deserves" with the decision that could send him to the gallows.
you gotta hand it to PMSNBC - they didn't even cut away from their weak programming at any time at all - they'll probably just pretend it's not happening until they can get Prissy & Norah + Scarborough et. al. in the AM to continue bashing Republicans.
Fascinating career ... and God bless you for being THERE. Stay safe ... anything happening?
You are too kind.
I've been reading your updates to my hubby. He and I are watching, waiting and hoping for a verdict. I know others, especially those with loved ones serving in the military feel the same as I do....this is personal, very personal.
I remember when our son was just a little boy and he sat on the floor playing with his Army men and tanks while we sat on the couch witnessing the beginning of Desert Storm. I actually have pictures of that night. And then, so many years later, Saddam was still defying the very UN Resolutions that allowed him to remain in power. Our little boy, now a man, ends up fighting the same damn monster that caused the first Gulf War. I've always tried not to "hate" anything, but I can honestly say that I hate the UN, and I hate Saddam. Hang the son of a bitch.
chena is now done ranting... ;)
Grrrrrr -- FNC just went back the the two beltway boobs.
Pffft! This is not what I wanted to listen to. As soon as I went into the den to turn the t.v. up where I could hear it in the study, I got the beltway boobies.
I know - I turned on Headline News and just found out Doogy Howser came out of the closet. Oy.
I already ate some chicken wings. I just finished watching Japanese Cartoons and was going to catch some news before I went to bed when I first saw this.
Might want to tone down your tagline abit. Maybe instead of $h1t, you could use ka-ka as it's more in keeping with his intelligence or lack thereof. Plus it would probably keep the mod's happy. ;^)
A life sentence is out of the question. It won't happen. He will be condemned on Sunday. After a speedy appeal process, he will be hanged. Count on it.
Also, it is legal in Iraq to execute a condemned murderer, then try him in absentia for his remaining crimes.
Allegra probably has to do something like screw up a bad joke. har har
now PMSNBC says they'll carry the verdict when it comes and actually proclaimed Ortega victor in Nicaragua, according to Jimmy Carter (they'll be voting later today)
FNC back live in Baghdad ... for a few secs ... "we'll see you shortly" ... now replay of NewsWatch. I saw this earlier - it bugged me the way the host kept referring to it as "Kerry's Joke". You could just as easily (and correctly) say "Kerry's smear". The correct term for this show should have been "Kerry's statement"
I am drinking sweet tea now too and your snack souds delicious!!!!
Grrrrrrr -- now FOX NEWS WATCH and I despise that show!
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." -Manuel II Paleologus
Fox News Watch is on now. Gabler is gone and Ellis H. is sitting in for him. I can't figure out who is more obnoxious, Neil or Ellis!!
I am sure that Tom Harkin and jon carry are celebrating a Noriega win tonight!!! the traitors.
PMSNBC! ROFL! Fox left us too. I'm still going to keep vigil though. So, Jimmy Ca-Ca is proclaiming Ortega victory? How surprising is that?! LOL Years ago when Carter was running for President, my husband and I bought matching t-shirts that said, "Goobers Today, Gonners Tomorrow". I sure wish I had kept those shirts. I could sell them on E-bay.
Gabler and Ellis are they same guy. Have you ever seen them together?
FOX is now showing reruns of newswatch. They're talking about the papers giving Jon Carey a pass, which is interesting, but not near as interesting as the Saddam deathwatch!
