1-Florida's constitution is far too easy to amend.

2-Most of the amendments on the ballot in recent years have not been constitional issues and did not belong on the ballot.

3-Amending the constitution in Florida should be made MUCH more difficult or you have a state run by referendum (practically mob rule). Non-constitutional issues that end up passing are nearly impossible to rescind.

I agree with you on ALL THREE points.... but this is not the answer.... If the legislature did their job, and took up these issues than the people would not need to take the matter into their own hands...... I would rather vote NO on all the issues that are NOT constitutional matters than change the process in any way....

That's fine for you or me. But we are not in the majority of the voters that vote on such issues. And, you will note, some of the more ludicrous amendments of recent years got on the ballot (and succeeded) because of the efforts and money of special interest groups originating outside of Florida. They come in with a lot of money and well staffed organizations and push these issues through from A to Z.

When I was living there, I don't care how I felt about the issue or intent of the amendment, if I didn't believe it to be a constitutional issue, I voted against it.

The man/woman marriage issue is most certainly a constitutional issue, in my layman's opinion.

Again.. I agree with you on all points.. I spend a lot of time explaining to folks that they should vote NO on certain ammendments that they "agree" with simmply because they are NOT constitutional issues.. some get i5 and some don't... but it does not justify changing the process IMHO...

Isn't the current rule 50% +1 vote? That isn't 51%...
