This is it. The final days, the home stretch. We head into the weekend and then to the polls on Tuesday for what might just be one of the most important elections of our lifetime.
I dont ever remember feeling so tired.
Im tired of hearing people try to make excuses for people like John Kerry. Im tired of hearing pollsters and pundits project a big victory for Democrats this Tuesday. Im tired of hearing the vicious, bitter attacks on our Presidents character by the likes of people like Keith Olbermann, a pseudo-intellectual Manhattan elitist who appears to be having the sort of on-air meltdown that the fictitious movie newsman Howard Beale of Network had. Im tired of the mainstream press relishing every bit of bad news out of Iraq or about the economy, while virtually ignoring all the positive stuff.
Most of all, Im just tired of fighting.
But Im not close to stopping. The stakes are too high. There might just be enough people on the fence that could be persuaded into doing the right thing on November 7th. And so Im going to try.
Like it or not, political parties are defined by their most prominent members. We Republicans have had our share of headaches and embarrassments. Neither party is without its gaffes.
But at the end of the day, Ill put the prominent Republican leaders up against the Democrats of 2006 any time. And well all be able to agree that there is a world of difference between the two.
Just consider the people who help to make up the heart and soul of the Democratic Party: Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, Michael Moore, Keith Olbermann, Alcee Hastings, Marion Berry, Rosie ODonnell, Barbara Boxer, and Barbra Streisand.
Compare that list to some of the more notable Republicans: George W. Bush, Denny Hastert, Bill Frist, Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney, Sean Hannity, Rudy Guiliani, George Allen, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Dick Cheney, John Cornyn, and just about every country music singer in America.
Cmon, its not even a close call. Face it, the Democrats are a bunch of angry, bitter, cynical people with no direction, no strategy, and certainly not a whole lot of positive things to say about the USA. The Republicans just feel like, well, the grown-ups.
A war is a very grown-up thing. It might not be as exotic as worrying about what global warming is going to do to snail darters in Antarctica, but terrorism threatens us all. Personally, Id prefer to take my chances with the ozone over a bunch of angry fanatics who think chopping off my head or blowing up my airplane will send them to heaven.
We have to act like grown-ups. It might seem intriguing to fret about diversity, but our children and our childrens children are counting on us to keep our country safe. And we are in way better shape with the grown-ups in charge than handing over the keys to the car to Ted Kennedy.
I was fascinated by the way Americans reacted to John Kerrys incredible slur against our troops this week. Sure, there was anger and passion and plenty of hurt feelings. But do you know what didnt really occur? Hate. That blind, red hot hate that so many Democrats have for honorable people like George W. Bush.
It appears that Democrats made a decision to make our President the focal point of most of their smear campaigns. They figure that if they can attack Bush while running a campaign ad for Congress, voters will be inspired to vote for the Democrat.
Well, as he once famously said: Bring it on. Ill stack his integrity and guts up against most of these folks on the left any day of the week.
Im just not willing to believe that voters will be so gullible as to let the Dems win next week.. I cant accept the possibility that well allow the hateful, vengeful Democrats to gleefully attempt to turn our country into an unholy mess for the next couple of years. No matter what anyone thinks of President Bushs decisions, I just refuse to think that were ready to stomach a party that might just very well try to impeach our commander-in-chief during wartime if they take control of the House and Senate.
Like most Republican leaders in America today, I believe in my country. I have faith that well do the right thing next week. I am proud of our troops, I pray for our President, and I love the United States of America.
Were a nation that has witnessed a lot of miracles. Maybe, just maybe, well see one more this coming Tuesday.

Alito, Roberts were great choices. And there will not be any 'values voters' around, none of us actually, if the left wins. Because a vote for liberalism is a vote for Islamic Fascism. And they will not rest till everyone of us is dead. People wake up for God's sake!
---
Exactly! If "value voters" sit on their butts they will have their hell on Earth sooner than they thought.
Now THAT's good fun. Chuckling with a few thousand FReeper pals while rat talking heads explode? Heh, I'll sign in for some of that, too!
I wish I could change your mind. You are right. I can't suggest for one minute that the GOP has done a great job--they haven't even done a good job--at best the last few years have been mediocre--and Iraq? Perhaps we didn't see as aggressive hands-off strategy employed to defeat the Muslim fascists as we needed to. It's not the troops fault. This sinner prays for them every day. Many democrats hate them. I know.
When Foley was revealed, at least he was summarily sent home.
Pelosi has voted for abortion including partial birth and she has also voted for fedrally funding for the killing--at least the GOP kept that from happening.
Many in the GOP don't deserve to be sent back. I pray that should they still be gifted with power, they will do a good job. But they must hear from us. I have and will continue to write and call--democrats will do far worse. That's what I know and why I chose to vote straight GOP. But they will not be let off, ever. They have to step up and do the right things.
The democrats will do the wrong things. They gave us Ginsberg on the supreme court for one example.
God speed to you. I hope you and yours prosper and enjoy good health.
I've been on here, NOT watching t.v. coverage, for all election results since I joined F.R. during the nightmare of Gore' multiple re-counts.
Poor Richard, you appear to be a Democratic hyena costumed in Republican fleece. Baa-baa
....And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more....
Sorry, but the only perfect candidate isn't running this year. He died about 2000 years ago.
I am so tired of hearing what a "DISASTER" Iraq is. It's so unfair. I swear there have been times I wanted to throw a shoe at my TV. (If the TV weren't so freaking expensive, it would be worth the therapy).
That's just what I was thinking. Poor Richard sounds more like something made up by Howard Dean than a real person.
Congratulations. Pat yourself on the back. The enemy is very proud of you.
I doubt any words of mine will change your mind but all that needs happen for the enemy to win is for us to do nothing.
He's on his way back, however. We best keep our oil lamps trimmed and our brains in drive.
And as we do not know the day or time, we'd best vote as if he's going to take a good long time to get here.
Vote your values and keep Democrats in the minority!
I'm going to say this loud and clear:
'Poor Richard' appears to be a sleeper troll.
This joker registers on Sept 6, 2000.
Doesn't get around to even posting until Sept 13, 2001.
Then once more on July 21, 2002.
Gone AWOL for the whole year of 2003.
Then for 2004, tried to build somewhat of a posting history with posts on:

Next post?
Last month: October 5th 2006
Must have received new orders from his DU/MorOn.Org handlers to get over here by November 4th.
"Poor Richard"?
I daresay you've done been outed son.
As they used to say in Usenet:
*PLONK*
Give my regards to your fellow DUmmies, and AMF!
(a-dios m-y f-riend)
Did you read my posts?
Yes, so what?
You come crawlin' in here every month or two or three, make some insipid comments like you did in this thread, then you vanish until the next time you're sent out with trolling orders.
You're busted Sparky.
Everyone whom you don't agree with is a troll?
I agree with you Poor Richard but allow me to explain why I will be voting on Nov. 7th.
Partial-Birth Abortion Ban
I can remember seeing my Senator, Rick Santorum, going to bat against the Democrats who did not want to stop sucking the brains out of babies as they were coming out of their mothers' womb. Have we stopped abortion completely? No, but we (the voters with a conscience) can not give up the good fight to win this war against genocide just because we are still losing some battles.
All Republicans are not as committed as Senator Santorum to the truth we hold near and dear but we cannot remove our presence from the Republican party. We have to stay and whether we are mocked or not by RINO's we have to take those slaps on the cheek and stay the course.
We as Christians cannot give up on the mission that Jesus Christ has given us till the day we go to be with Him. Jesus day by day faced the Pharisees and Sadducees, the hyprocits of His time here on earth. Every day He spoke out and showed the way. He took part in the public life of that time and we as His followers must do the same. Imagine if Jesus had gotten frustrated with the public and just decided to stay home cause He was being mocked and no one was listening to Him.
We have to continue to vote and do what we can to have the truth heard. So I ask you to reconsider what our Lord would have you do on Nov 7th.
