CNN) -- An editorial to be published Monday in independent publications that serve the four main branches of the U.S. military will call for President Bush to replace Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

"Basically, the editorial says, it's clear now, from some of the public statements that military leaders are making, that he's lost the support and respect of the military leadership," said Robert Hodierne, senior managing editor for the publications' parent company Army Times Publications.

One thing I have noticed with rats:

They are cowards....if they think the heat is on, they hide. If they think they are wrong, they hide.

This whole thing about the rats being ahead in the election and how they are going to take the House and the Senate is rat crap....but let them keep saying it...it will make the rest of the rats stay in their holes on Tuesdays, while we Republicans come out to vote for our people and keep the House and the Senate...

The rats haven't got enought brains to pound sand in a rat hole....

Hmmm... who influences the Military more... kerry and his insult to the max, or this bogus article? I think the troops reaction to Rummy, whenever and wherever he visits them, proves where the majority of the Military stands. Old Generals want their old style toys and old style command structure... but it is the 21st Century and time to put away the old and step into that new century with her new threat matrix.

CNN HAS A CERTAIN AUDANCE THEY APPEAL TO AND THAT IS THE LEFT AND FOR LEFT. SO, WHY WOULD YOU CARE WHAT CNN AIRS?

Rummsfeld simply doesn't give a sh-t what the journalists think and he has no problem getting this point across to them. I like the man and think he is the tough nosed kind of man that we need in the job.

Allan Neuharth, the patriarch of Gannett, has left a leftist imprint on the Gannett operation. He has staffed his papers with radical leftists (Keith Olbermann types minus the personality)who despise America and everything it stands for. I'm glad the old coot lived long enough to see the rapid decline of the dinosaur print media.

I can't stand the mental bilge that masquerades as news at his flagship paper, USA Today. It's hard to get through it because the anti-American commentary section has seeped into the hard news of the paper, making the paper a propaganda vehicle to indoctrinate the people to the leftwing point of view.

Neuharth is doing to the "Army Times" what he has done to countless papers across the nation. Our local "Florida Today" was at one time, a great paper giving the reader both sides on the editorial page, and then Neuharth got his dirty hands on the paper. Now he prints anti-American diatribes, and cultural filth that is pumped into the homes of thousands of Space Coast residents. He ruined a fine paper, with a great tradition in his quest to brainwash the people.

GrannyLD, I pledged that a long time ago. I also will not watch any news from the major networks, and am also boycotting the weekly leftist diatribe from 60 minutes. When I listen to talk radio, I turn off the radio when the cBS or abc news break begins it's efforts to spin the news for the benefit of the leftist hive. I'm closing my mind to the Goebbels of our time.

independent publications

Like the "non-partisan" scam they throw out.

Once you've taken a position, you are neither independent nor non-partisan, imo. Of course if we take a position, we are "biased".

But you see, Air Force Times and its sister publications Amy Times, Navy Times and Marine Times are not published by the military, but in fact are published by Gannett, the media outfit that owns USA Today and a number of local television stations around the nation.
Thanks for the link to Melanie Morgan's piece.

Are there alternatives to these rags for people with an interest in the military to read? Or for our people in the Armed Forces?

...the newspaper assured him they were not trying to influence the elections.

Sure, then why didn't they wait and publish the editorial a week later? People should not be fooled by this, but they will. The Army Times, Navy Times, etc. are not official organs of DoD, though most folks who hear about this won't know that. These papers are 100% MSM, but unfortunately most people will take this news as meaning that "even the military's own newspaper thinks Rumsfeld ought to go." This is the way the MSM will report it, and by the time the story is set straight it will be too late. The good news is that even thought they really DO hope to influence the elections, it won't work. I can't believe there is anybody out there still sitting on the fence wondering which way to vote on Tuesday.

I checked the Board of Directors at Gannett.

http://www.gannett.com/about/management/board_of_directors.htm

Donna E. Shalala - we all remember this one!
and
Louis D. Boccardi - Retired president and chief executive officer of The Associated Press; former member and chairman of the Pulitzer Prize Board; and member of the Board of Visitors, the Graduate School of Journalism, Columbia University.

No Bias here, nope, none at all...(/sarc)

...didn't quite happen that way. Vanity Fair twisted the hell out of what they were saying. The interviewees ripped into them about that on NRO.
