In a stunning and historic trip under the utmost secrecy, a delegation of families of fallen U.S. troops have traveled to Iraq to counter critics of the war effort, just days before the Nov. 7 midterm elections.
The delegation of Gold Star Families agreed to provide the Sacramento Union with an exclusive account of their trip to Iraq based on the assurance that news of their mission would not be published until they had safely left Amman, Jordan.
So secret is their trip that even members of the Bush Administration were kept in the dark about their planned activities.
Theyve come to Iraq from cities throughout America as part of a 12-person delegation in a history-making effort no other coordinated group of Gold Star Families has ever traveled to Iraq, and they come with a message that is sure to ignite a firestorm of debate.
The American people are shown a skewed picture of the situation in Iraq day after day by the international news media. We felt it was time to allow the families of U.S. troops who died in Iraq to come see the progress being made in Iraq and report it back to the American , said Melanie Morgan, Chairman of Move America Forward.
Move America Forward, a Sacramento-based pro-troop non-profit organization is organizing the 10-day journey to Iraq. The group previously led a contingent of radio talk show hosts to Iraq in July 2005.
To demonstrate their contention that things are better in Iraq than what has been portrayed in many news accounts, the delegation is intentionally traveling to Iraqi provinces that have largely been free of the violence that has erupted in Baghdad and the surrounding Sunni triangle.

Good work! I saw your post to those morons. There are a few of us posted there now, so it's 3 to 3. Hopefully more FReepers and other decent Americans will weigh in, too. What nasty, nasty tools of satan!
God Bless our troops, their families & those who truly support them!
God bless and protect these good people. A simple "thank-you, we support you" from the Gold Star Families will mean more to our troops than all the politicians and pundits visits!
Hey Ma,
I got on the comments list.
do I get a prize?
Ping!
NO! I haven't given that a thought, but it is a thought worth thinking. So, the next time I hear someone sound off about the Iraq war, I just respond, if Iraq is so dangerous, how come the murder rate in (fill in the blank) exceeds the danger our soldiers face on the front lines? For that matter and I believe someone mentioned this already, that more people die in traffic accidents, in one day in the USA than soldiers in Iraq in three months time. Abortion alone kills more babies in one day than all the soldiers killed in Iraq up to this time and more.
WOOOOHOOOOOO!!
I'd LOVE to meet any of the FReepers in this delegation. Heck, I'd be honored to meet any of them. God bless them all.

We're working to get it first mentioned on Fox News Channel's Fox & Friends. Stay tuned around or after 9:00 AM - we'll see if we can get the news broken on television.
I am sure it will be very difficult to be on the ground, in the vicinity where their precious loved ones were killed. I am also sure they will want to hug & thank EVERY single Man and Woman there serving there.
I cannot wait to read the reports & see the pix (I should have gone as official photographer?)
Thanks for the ping Tiggles
