There is compelling evidence now that John Kerry is a kind of Manchurian Candidate of Democratic politics.
The clues were there all along, if we'd only looked closely enough. His curious combination of self-satisfied superiority and baffled indecisiveness was obviously too contradictory a mental characteristic to be natural.
But the plot worked brilliantly. In 2004, as the party's presidential candidate, Kerry threw away a golden opportunity for a Democratic victory.
Startlingly, this week, with the Democrats on the brink of their first clear victory in congressional elections for 14 years, the Manchurian Candidate seized a second chance to assassinate his party.
Whatever Americans think of the war in Iraq, they harbour a deep respect for their men and women in uniform. The clumsy gaffe clearly required an urgent clarification and an apology.
He initially wheedled, refusing to apologise, and rounded instead on his critics. In the process he managed to drag out a no-win story for the Democrats for an improbable two days of news cycles until he was eventually forced to issue a proper retraction.
The incident has shone a rare spotlight, in this critical mid-term election campaign, on the Democratic Party. The reason it received so much attention, and so alarmed Democrats, is that it threatened to undermine the party's entire strategy for taking control of Congress.
Elections require voters to choose between alternatives, and Democrats have been extremely anxious not to talk about what they will do if they win on Tuesday. Other than a few old commitments to raising the minimum wage and re-examining tax cuts, there is no 2006 Democratic equivalent of the "Contract with America" that Republicans brought to Washington when they won control of Congress in 1994.

Even so, he didn't do so in public, he posted it on his web site. And he hasn't been seen since. Maybe he's with Nancy?
that's what bothered me, Kerry issued an apology for people 'misconstruing' what he said on his website.

The Poodle tossed a great big C-4 satchel charge spang into the RAT bunker!
Awesome!
Haven't seen any polls which reflect this yet: the RATs and the MSM are probably huddled up debating how to spin them.
"Maybe he's with Nancy?"
Is he also recovering from a bad chemical peel?
He's not a "Manchurian Candidate" or just made a mistake in delivering a joke or any other theoretical excuse: He's just a freakin idiot filled with the usual liberal hatred for the US military--period.
he's a masochist,suffering from penis envy.
Why should he apologize? He only said out loud what all democrats and mcstain feel in their demented minds......
lest we forget:
Re: wound suffered by Kerry in December 1968
from report written by Dr. Louis Letson -
.........
Some of his crew confided that they did not receive any fire from shore, but that Kerry had fired a mortar round at close range to some rocks on shore. The crewman thought that the injury was caused by a fragment ricocheting from that mortar round when it struck the rocks.
That seemed to fit the injury which I treated.
What I saw was a small piece of metal sticking very superficially in the skin of Kerry's arm. The metal fragment measured about 1 cm. in length and was about 2 or 3 mm in diameter. It certainly did not look like a round from a rifle.
I simply removed the piece of metal by lifting it out of the skin with forceps. I doubt that it penetrated more than 3 or 4 mm. It did not require probing to find it, did not require any anesthesia to remove it, and did not require any sutures to close the wound.
The wound was covered with a bandaid.
........
This is what gave Mr. Kerry his first Purple Heart.
That reminds me of the wonderful ad the NRA ran during the '04 election, of a sissified poodle wearing pink hair ribbons and a sweater with "K" on it, and the phrase underneath: "This dog don't hunt." I'm not a gunowner, but this made me laugh out loud, so I made a donation to the NRA. LOVED that ad!
Arrogance, contempt for the military, cluelessness, and flip-flopping - all in five words!
Exactly....he still blames everyone else for not understanding what he was saying.
That is NO apology at all!
His arrogance reminds me of "Niles and Frasier Crane" on the TV series "Frasier".
This is an excellent read.
Oh, Rove, you magnificient dog, you!!
I think these guys are making Horseface into a much more complex case than is necessary. He may simply be a pompous, ignorant leftist.
There ain't enough Viagra in the world...to keep a normal male in the same room with his meal ticket wife, for more that a couple seconds before hauling a$$.
