Every day starts with 200 situps in the workout room of the clubhouse. Then Donald Taggart lifts weights and does his cardio. Residents liken him to La Lanne, the aging fitness icon whose photo hangs in the room. Taggart, 78 and still buff, likes to get physical.
It got really physical Tuesday.
... snip ...
Nodar (the liberal, my comment) was arrested on a charge of battery on a person over the age of 65 - but not accused of getting the better of one.

I think Mr.Nodar got exactly what he both asked for, and deserved!

I may not agree with Nodar's ignorance of soldiers with frostbite, but I will fight to the death for Taggart's right to beat him bloody.

Yup and the other dude was younger and outweighed him
Nodar got in his face, Taggart said. Then, witnesses say, the 215-pound Nodar lunged at a man 14 years older and about 45 pounds lighter than him.

Better check your State laws friend.
In Nevada, you use a gun in a crime, you get 5 years hard time, no pleas and any time you get for the act goes on top of the 5 years.
Committ a crime on someone over 65, you get the same treatment. 5 years hard time, before anything else.
Wanna Granny bash? Don't do it in Las Vegas - what goes on there stays there, as will you - for at least 5 years.

Yes. We have laws in this country that increase penalties on those who perpetrate crimes on the more helpless segments of our society. Children, the elderly, etc. In Mr. Taggarts case, however, it doesn't sound like any special treatment was needed.

Yes. We have laws in this country that increase penalties on those who perpetrate crimes on the more helpless segments of our society. So many politically correct people to get votes from. Now I see why gays are getting special laws written for them. If you attack anyone the punishment should be the same. It's an attack. But now the law says "oh, since it was a white, heterosexual, male who's hand was chopped off with the hatchet, well, no big deal. Now, if he were over 65, gay, any one of the over 66 percent minorities in the country, etc., then put the perp in jail."
Disgusting. No equal justice.

I want all rapists to be punished severely, but rapists who rape six year olds should be punished far more severely than those who rape 26 year olds. I'm sorry to see that you disagree.
To: Arthalion
Yes, now you're just being silly. But, of course, that's your right.
A person who rapes a Hispanic woman should not be punished more severely than if they rape a white women, and vice versa. I'm sorry that you place such a higher value on certain classes of adults than others.
Should we bar white women from certain jobs as well - blacks and Asians only need apply? What races of adults are more special to you than others? This should be interesting.

Who brought race into this? I disagree with hate crimes laws because they draw an ARTIFICIAL distinction between victims based on race, which should be legally irrelevant. What we're talking about here are increased punishments for those who take advantage of the weak and otherwise helpless. Children. Elderly. The disabled. People who are incapable of defending themselves, and in many cases who may not even understand that they're being victimized. It takes a sick mind to become a criminal in the first place, but those who turn their crime against societies helpless are sicker than most. They deserve increased punishment.
There's a difference between recognizing genuine differences within the population, and creating artificial ones for political expediency.
To: Arthalion
Who brought children into this? If you read the article it is about two perfectly healthy adult males who were fighting. One will be charged because he fought with an adult over a certain age. Obviously they were not frail, weak, or incapable of defending themselves. Laws giving special rights to adults regarding assault, based on age, race, sex, or other, are ridiculous. They create a superior class, more worthy that others.
