Mea Culpa: I Can't Sit This One Out (Vanity)
GU Nation Forums - Online Crosby Center ^ | 11/01/06 | Night Hides Not

Posted on 11/01/2006 2:44:46 PM PST by Night Hides Not

This is a post from an online forum populated mostly by alumni of Gonzaga University (I graduated from there a long time ago - check my home page):

Memo to Republicans:

Don't get too excited about this Kerry brouhaha. Bush and the Rs are grasping at straws here.

There are many things you can criticize Kerry for. His support for and stance on the military is not one of them--especially for a draft dodger drunk who hung out in the guard like our good president.

So enjoy this little sideshow for what it is this week my Republican friends. A week from today you're still getting your asses handed to you by the voters, and Kerry will still be in the Senate next year. Not sure I can say the same for Burns, Corker, Allen, Santorum, Talent, or Chafee.

I estimate that liberals outnumber conservatives on that board by at least 4:1.

FWIW, Gonzaga is more conservative than most of the Jesuit institutions throughout the land. GU's President, Fr. Bob Spitzer can be found regularly on EWTN, and is a true defender of Catholic tenets.

As we get closer to Election Day, I truly realize the importance of keeping the Democrats out of power during these perilous times.

For those still thinking about "sitting this one out", I beseech you to reconsider.

You never know. This event could help tip the balance in some races. They thought Mark Foley would do it for the Dems. This might help Republicans in some tight races. It's going to be close on election night.

I hear the Dems. have hired thousands of lawyers to oversee the elections and file lawsuits.

Unfortunately, I do believe that Kerry will be reelected when his time comes up again. What's with that?

They say that NJ is the most corrupt state in the Union.

I vehemently disagree. Massachusetts has to be, how else could you have a murderer and a traitor as your US senators for life.

A good point is raised by one blogger on the site: even if Democrats win it will not be by a margin to affect very much but instead will create gridlock.
If Democrats do win Bush can finally start exercising his veto power.

Did someone go re-write history yet again to exclude Kerry's joining the Naval Reserve? Kinda like signing up for the Guard, but without all the danger of flying fighter jets.

I would get up out of my grave to vote in this election (oops, can't do that, I'm not a democrat...) anyway, I wouldn't sit this one out for anything!
Hey, Ohio, look for me - I'll have two LARGE home-made signs on the rear window of my pickup!
Only people so blinded by their hatred of Republicans, people who subscribe to the philosophy of Socialism/Marxism, and people who feel the government and everyone else owes them something would vote for Democrats in time of war!

I just graduated from Gonzaga in December of 2005, and am now at the University of North Texas- I never thought I'd find someone who has done the same (in a sense). Most of the people who post on the GU Nation board are flaming liberals. If you ever go there and read past discussions, one can truly see their elitist, smarter-than-though attitude. While there is Spitzer, Gonzaga is not what it used to be. It is becoming more and more liberal and less and less Catholic.

There were 986 F-102 interceptors built. 259 of them were lost in crashes. The Class A accident rate was 13.69. By comparison, someone flying an F-16 today would face a rate of 3.22. The F-15's rate is 2.06. Flying F102s was no way to avoid danger. I would like to see some National Guard soldiers "visit" writers who say serving in the Guard is draft-dodging.

I may be a "border troll" (or close to it).

But I'll hold my nose and vote Republican.

Because I know that just holding my nose won't keep out the stench of
a win by the Democrats.

The number of conservatives who will sit this one out is miniscule.

The number of the above who reside in competetive districts is minisculer.

Actually, I think Kerry's gaffe will energize the fence-sitters in the Republican Party and in voters in general. It's a net gain for the pubbies and couldn't have come at a better time.

Stupid democrats.
