WASHINGTON, Nov. 1, 2006 Karl Rove, President Bush's top advisor, talked to ABC News' Ann Compton about the remarks Sen. John Kerry says were a botched joke about the president, and about Bush's future.
Here is a transcript of the conversation:
COMPTON: Senator John Kerry has made a statement about Iraq. Do you take him at his word that he was talking about the president and not the troops?
ROVE: I take him at his word when he insulted America's fighting forces. This is a habit that he's had over the years. He did it when he came back from Vietnam and there's no way that an individual looking at what he said, which is available on the Internet. Go on and look at yourself. Any American can. This guy was insulting America's troops by suggesting that if you were stupid you went to Iraq.
COMPTON: But he says it was a botched joke about the president?
ROVE: Then he ought to apologize for those Americans fighting on our behalf who thought it was an insult on them. I saw a number of them on the television this morning and it was very clear they took it as a personal insult. He ought to apologize to them and he cannot bring himself to do so this. This is his sort of like his elitist attitude about this. When he came back from Vietnam he slandered his comrades in arms from Vietnam in saying that in the mode of Genghis Khan they raped and pillaged their way across Vietnam. Now, he's suggesting only stupid people are willing to volunteer to fight in our military and go into harm's way in Iraq.

I don't think so....
Are you turning a deaf ear to Rove's explanation that Kerry should apologize to the military?
It's been on FOX several times.
RYMB!!!!!!!
COMPTON: Is this George W. Bush's last campaign and yours?
ROVE: Well, it's the president's next-to-last campaign. He keeps saying it's his last campaign and I keep saying, Mr. President don't you think the candidates are going want you out on their behalf in 2008? So it's his next-to-last campaign for the president.
COMPTON: And you?
ROVE: I'm focused on this campaign. Let's let the future take care of itself.
LOL..I wish Rove had said he was running for President in 2008!! That would have sent the media into a tail spin...LOL
The photo, or the new ad?
The new ad.
I just posted here another of John Kerry's greatest anti-military hits: his repeated bashing of our coalition partners as "coerced", "bribed", and "extorted" back in 2003, a week before said forces risked their lives (and some paid with their lives) deposing Saddam Hussein.
At least the Lurch is consistent. Or is the right term pathalogical?
Am I the only one troubled by this excuse? We have a sitting Senator taking cheap shots at a president's handling of a war. Whatever happened to an America that closed ranks when facing a foreign enemy instead of making the president fight a war on two fronts?
Insulting the military is a Democrat habit, not just a Hanoi Kerry thing. The Clintons despise the military, and weakened it considerably during their 8 years, while they ignored terrorist attacks (US Embassy in Nairobi - killing a few hundred, first WTC attack, etc. etc. etc.). BJ Clinton was too busy getting serviced in the Oval Office to pay attention to terrorism.
You go Carl!
Now it is time for Rove to pull out that big November surprise he has been saving and bring this one home to the good guys.
Yes, he does.
Just surfed over to CNN and Wolf was jubilant and giddy over sKerry's apology. Saying that the WH has accepted the apology and that we should move on(paraphrasing)! All the cable news outlets, except FOX with Gibson(IT WAS GREAT!) want us to quickly forgive and FORGET these past 24 hours. They are ready to move on from this story. It's sickening to watch them carry the dirty water for the Ketchup boy!
This gets funnier every time I see it!
LOL! At least our guys have a sense of humor (something that has never graced Mr. Kerry's tiny mind).
