Statement of Senator John Kerry
As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: my poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop.
I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.
It is clear the Republican Party would rather talk about anything but their failed security policy. I dont want my verbal slip to be a diversion from the real issues. I will continue to fight for a change of course to provide real security for our country, and a winning strategy for our troops.

How is this an apology when he's lying about his intentions? He got caught in front of a leftist student group saying what he really thinks.

What?????????????????
Nancy just told us TODAY that we CANNOT WIN in Iraq.
What is the Dem's "winning strategy" that Kerry claims to want?
To: tsmith130
He can't just f'ing apologize. He has to bring up the Republicans. What a loser.

I don't think anyone "misinterpreted" his comment or that it was a "botched joke" or that it was about President Bush getting "us" stuck in Iraq. Rather, it's pretty clear it was a slam at our soldiers for being uneducated losers with no other career path:
"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

He didn't own the remarks......he is still waffling and hedging......and a whole paragraph condemning the Republicans. Gees, this took two days? (shaking head in disgust)

Well....
He can stand up in front of a camera and insult our military...time and time again.
But he cant stand up in front of one to apologize?
Rings hollow.

my poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop. Nice to know that Kerry considers soldiers in Iraq as being part of a joke!
And here he trots out the old "if anyone was offended" non-apology.

I will continue to fight for a change of course to provide real security for our country, and a winning strategy for our troops. And what would that be, Kerry? Cut and run? Sit around with your finger up your butt and wait for us to be attacked again?
What's your "winning strategy," Kerry? You've been talking about this since 2004 - come on...let's hear what it is. You owe us at least that much.

Offended by what? By what you did?
Or offended by the misinterpretation?
The disingenuous coward couldn't even deliver the words in person.
For all we know he didn't even write it.

The people he attacked don't visit his propaganda site.
The apology without the sound bites should be made live before a national audience the same way they were delivered. His highness should beg Armed Services Radio to broadcast his apology globally.
