***Media Advisory*** Santorum to Hold News Conference Tonight to Respond to Bob Casey Defending John Kerry |
|
|
At a news conference tonight, U.S. Senator Rick Santorum will join veterans to denounce John Kerry's recent comments regarding our soldiers in Iraq. Senator Santorum will also comment on Bob Casey's endorsement of John Kerry's comments in today's Philadelphia Inquirer: "From what I can gather, Kerry botched a joke. That's what he said, and I take him at his word. He served in combat. Last time I checked, the president and the vice president did not. The White House and the Santorum forces should get to work on dealing with the real problems in Iraq. The first thing they should do is fire Mr. Rumsfeld instead of spending a lot of time trashing Democrats." (Jennifer Loven, "'04 foes exchange fire anew on troops, war, education," The Associated Press via The Philadelphia Inquirer, November 1, 2006) John Kerry was scheduled to join Bob Casey Jr. for a fundraising event tonight at the Public House in Philadelphia but opted to cancel in light of his recent comments.
Who: Senator Rick Santorum Sgt. Michael Sarro, Iraq war veteran
James Warner, U.S. Marine and POW with Senator John McCain Ron Ziegler, Jewish Veteran of Vietnam war veteran What: News conference Where: Embassy Suites Fairmount Room 1776 Benjamin Franklin Parkway Philadelphia, PA 19103 When: Wednesday, November 1, 2006 5:30 pm Press should be in place at 5:15 pm. |

I can't believe my eyes. The Republicans are actually taking advantage of a political opportunity. Usually McCain or Specter or somebody comes to the Democrats' rescue, while the rest of the elephant herd cowers in the tall grass.

Even the rank and file Dems are trashing Kerry, but Casey the "moderate" is still backing him up.

"From what I can gather, Kerry botched a joke. That's what he said, and I take him at his word. He served in combat. Last time I checked, the president and the vice president did not." Hey Bob, what's your military record? Were you a fighter pilot like President Bush was? No? Then what gives you standing to disparage anyone else's service or lack thereof?
Oh, and Bush and Cheney are serving as war time co-commanders in chief. That to me trumps whatever John Kerry THINKS he did in a war 35 years ago, one you Dems. called "unjust" and "evil" but now suddenly find such virtue in. So I'll take Bush and Cheney's experience commanding the military in a time of national danger as giving them more standing to DEFEND the troops than the experience of Kerry who spent Vietnam tossing grenades into piles of rice as giving him standing to ATTACK the military, as he's done many, many times.
This is part of a pattern for Kerry, Bob something that maybe you'd know if you weren't such a pathetic empty suit.

John Kerry is mental giant compared to Casey Jr. Good news is they can't keep their mouths shut.

Everyone within radius of Penn should join GOTV to help Santorum. If not near the state, volunteer to conduct phone calls on his behalf.
Go get 'em Rick!

Oh, please G-d let this be the beginning of the end of the Casey name in Pennsylvania. The legacy should have died with the father since there are no longer any pro-lifers in that state who are not already in the GOP.

I am so GD sick and tired of GWB's ANG service being discounted or dismissed! EVERY time GWB put on his g-suit and strapped himself in the cockpit, he faced death on a personal basis. His service might not have taken place in a declared combat zone but in fact he was on the front line of Americas homeland nuclear defense. Air defense alerts and flying intercept missions sure as heck count as combat in any thinking persons book.

Maybe Casey's "backing up" Kerry will sink him. Let's hope. This is about the only time McCain can be of some help to a real conservative. Santorum needs some good news. I cannot vote for him but I do pray for him.
To: Jeff Chandler
Uummkaaay, just remember that Kerry was for the (joke/gaff/botched attempt at humor) before he was against it !
Maybe Kerry needs to be shown some respect - Webb should pick Kerry upside down by his ankles and put his penis in his mouth.
(In fairness, it's an act of love and respect, not a sexual act. Jennifer Loven's AP report proves that.)
Of course on the other hand, maybe Kerry should just admit he made a mistake and apologize for insulting our troops.
