RALEIGH (AP) State Democratic Party chairman Jerry Meek on Wednesday called on fellow Democrat John Kerry to apologize for his comments about U.S. troops in Iraq that critics, including President Bush, have called disrespectful.
Kerry, the Massachusetts senator and 2004 presidential candidate, told a group of California students earlier this week that that people unable to succeed in the U.S. educational system could "get stuck in Iraq."
Kerry has said he mangled prepared comments that were meant to be a joke critical of Bush's Iraq policy, but others have called it troop-bashing in the week before the midterm election.
"John Kerry's botched joke was wrong and he should apologize. We absolutely disassociate ourselves from any criticism of our troops, misunderstood or otherwise," Meek said in a prepared statement.
Meek said Republicans are trying to make Kerry an issue in the final days of the campaign "so they don't have to talk about the president's record in Iraq."
LOL and LOL!!!!
What the HECK took 'em so long?
Instead of apologizing, though,,,Kerry continues to be defiant and continues to SPEW HIS HATE, ANGER and VENOM--as the discussion of his utter CONTEMPT for the military grows.
I give up.
Where's the beef joke?
Kerry cannot have been talking about Bush since Kerry said that stupid or lazy students can't do "well." Bush is President. He's done well.
Why are Dems. running away from this? They pounced all over macaca and wanted to us to draw certain conclusions about George Allen. IN that case they didn't even know what macaca meant, they just decided to run with it.
And they wanted us all over the story of Mark Foley's inappropriate messages. And they wanted Denny Hastert to resign for not having proper supervision of his fellow congressman.
So what's it going to be? Should Harry Reid resign as Dem. leader for not having proper supervison of John Kerry? Should we "put it behind us and move on" as slowly as the Dems. put Mark Foley and Macaca behind us, or if Dems. say something stupid, we move on, when Republicans do, we drag out the story?
What are the criteria for judging something like this, Democrats? Can anyone out there tell me?
"If you marry money and trash your country, you can do well." - "I don't need to sign no stinkin' 180 Form" Kerry.
That is too funny....I can't stop chuckling....God bless our troops
Any apology from Kerry or any Democrat Liberal is "too little' too late" by about 20 years.
Coming to their senses? I suspect that it is a result of polling. They realize that the majority of Americans want Kerry to apologize, therefore they now say that Kerry should apologize.
So according to the "explanations", John FN Kerry was either intentionally and unbelievably disrespectful of our troops or a word managler of the supreme order and therefore dumber than dirt himself.
Works for me.
The democrats--led by their spokeman, Kerry--who does such an eloquent job of expressing the utter CONTEMPT of the democrats for their benefactors (the military)--have been insulting and demeaning the military , while undermining their efforts, since Vietnam.
By giving 'aid-and-comfort' to our enemies, the democratic party has been undermining and demeaning the military for two generations now. Opposing their efforts has been a rock-solid, core issue in the democratic party since the 60's
Is Jon Carry stupid, disrespectful, or both stupid and disrespectful? An apology would narrow it down to just stupid.
Right, not to mention their appeasement of tyrants and Commies worldwide for decades.
Do the American people not know this?
John F. Kerry really, really believes he has no REASON to apologize to anybody. After all, he is one of the elites, and everybody knows, they never retract, they never apologize. Invariably, they are "misquoted". And it is the people who have "misquoted" him, that should be making the apology.
Just another faux-Brahmin. But maybe this caste system should be demolished.
Some folks thought it had already been demolished, but maybe not.
This gets better and better!
From a grim, "winter soldier", state of mind, FR is hopping this morning!
Lovin' it!
