MEMPHIS Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Harold Ford Jr. issued a statement this morning calling on U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., to apologize for comments that Republicans including President Bush contend disparage U.S. troops in Iraq.
Whatever the intent, Senator Kerry was wrong to say what he said, Rep. Ford said. He needs to apologize to our troops.
But Rep. Ford, who served as an honorary co-chairman of Sen. Kerrys 2004 failed presidential bid, said that the senators words dont alter the fact that the stay-the-course strategy pursued by President Bush and supported by Bob Corker isnt working. We need a new direction in Iraq. I know how hard our troops work, and the sacrifices they make, for our freedoms. They deserve a plan for victory as good as they are, and as senator I intend to see they get one.

We have a winner!
Not a bad idea but they will get their marching orders soon enough all issue the same boring prattle of a non-statement soon enough.
Let by the Queen of insomnia ending inducement Hillary.
Watch and see.
Either that, or it'll become a talking point to attack the President.
Cubicle bound with Fox on my XM radio. Is this thing getting coverage on other than Fox?
Yes, it's getting full coverage on PMSNBC, C-SPAN and elsewhere. I haven't checked CNN yet. They're probably in meltdown "CYA" mode over there.
Speaking of resigning, I found a link in CNNs archives where Kerry and Feingold wanted Trent Lott to resign when he made a "joke" about Strom Thurmond. What's good for the goose....

It's too late for one of Kerry's non-apologies.
"I apologize for the botched joke, before I un-apologized against it."
What will be interesting to watch is how Clinton manages to spin this today while in TN. If he does at all.... or just manages to deftly avoid talking about it. You know - the usual Clinton-esque behavior.
WHEN Dems don't take any majority this election, Kerry will pay the price. He WILL resign. They will make his life miserable.

Corker should make this point in his appearances.
HAHAHAHA!
So Harold Ford Jr. was AGAINST the apology before he was FOR it, huh?!
Kerry to Ford: "Get back on the plantation junior."
He's dangerous - a liberal that plays a conservative on television. He also has enough awareness to see beyond what the moonbats see.
Regards, Ivan
Hope that the wind is calm. If not the stench will be too much to handle.
stunning...absolutely stunning.
I don't think Republicans were ever going to lose this election. Kerry may have just given the Dems an excuse for why they lost, but the truth is that unhappy Republicans were never going to vote for Dems, and were always going to end up voting GOP when it came down to it, grumbling all the way. The media and pollsters tried to create a reality that does not exist, and the real world is now going to be revealed.
Things are starting to implode for the Democrats. If Ford would have stood with Kerry and Dems, he would have lost. If Ford demands an apology from Kerry then the kook left get mad at him.
This is the worst thing that could have happened to the Dems.
By comparison, Lincoln Chafee has a lifetime ACU rating of 37. As I said, Ford votes liberal Dem no matter what he says. Bluntly, he is lying. If the people of TN are stupid enough to believe what he says, then they deserve him.
It's been tried before. Shoot, Kerry ran as a moderate not a liberal and of course he introduced himself the nation as "reporting for duty."
Most Dems run as "moderates." We live in a right of center country. The Reps need to expose them as frauds. In the case of Ford, we have a voting record. Fairly simple to prove.
