(Harold)Ford asks Kerry to apologize

MEMPHIS — Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Harold Ford Jr. issued a statement this morning calling on U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., to apologize for comments that Republicans including President Bush contend disparage U.S. troops in Iraq.

“Whatever the intent, Senator Kerry was wrong to say what he said,” Rep. Ford said. “He needs to apologize to our troops.”

But Rep. Ford, who served as an honorary co-chairman of Sen. Kerry’s 2004 failed presidential bid, said that the senator’s “words don’t alter the fact that the stay-the-course strategy pursued by President Bush and supported by Bob Corker isn’t working. We need a new direction in Iraq. I know how hard our troops work, and the sacrifices they make, for our freedoms. They deserve a plan for victory as good as they are, and as senator I intend to see they get one.”

That's not fair to Harold Ford. There's nothing wrong with him running, except he's in the wrong party.

If you look at his voting record, Ford is in the right party. He has an ACU lifetime rating of 19, the lowest in the TN congressional delegation of either party. Believe what he does, not what he says.

I'm sure that ACU rating of 19 is well deserved, but I'm just saying he's running as a moderate Republican.

It's been tried before. Shoot, Kerry ran as a moderate not a liberal and of course he introduced himself the nation as "reporting for duty."

Now that is going to go down in his political obiturary well.

Make no mistake JUNIOR is a LIBERAL Dem to his core. Pro-abortion, anti-2nd amendment, and never met a tax hike he didn't vote for.

kerry to harold ford, "I'm smarter than you are, and you can't make me, you can't make me, you can't make me. No apology to them child, baby, and women killers. You hear me!"

I'm certain this will be kerry's response. kerry has a record on this type of attitude as do many other demonrats. kerry should do the right thing and resign. I would have had more respect for harold ford if he had demanded kerry resign. As it is....I have respect for neither of these girly-men.

Harold Ford is running as a conservative, calling himself a (D) and hoping to siddle up to Harry Reid and work on immediate withdrawal from Iraq and impeach Bush.

Saw him on FNS and couldn't believe my ears. What a strange thing to sound like a Republican and want to support the Democrats. Sounds like pure hypocracy or a flat out lie.

>>John Kerry either resigns or should be drummed out of the congress.

Um, Excuse Me he is a senator, from a state with a republican (nominally) Governor.

When pigs fly first class!

(Can we ask Nancy to ask him to resign or resign herself, or explain why it was good for Denny Hastert, but not for her!)

IMHO Tying Nancy (Surprise) Pelosi to this would make it
1) National
2) Point out she is what people are voting for (Next speaker...)
IMHO it can only help if we can tie her to this.

One of those morons thinks this will "backfire on us right wing idiots". Yeah that's why the Dems can't stay far enough away from Kerry.

Cool. I already called Kerry's office and after 30 rings told the woman I wanted Kerry to apologize but moreso, his resignation.

What we should ALL be doing is calling any DEM US House Reps and Senators in our own states and asking them what they think of Kerry's remarks. That will make THEM feel the heat and get on record about how they feel about the troops.

When Clinton was Governor of Ark., he spent a ton of time over the river in Memphis with the Ford family. Jr. cut his teeth on Clinton.
