Kerry cancels Minnesota visit amid comment flap

MANKATO, Minn. — The flap over what U.S. Sen. John Kerry calls his "botched joke" has prompted him to cancel an appearance this morning in Minnesota. The Massachusetts senator - and 2004 Democratic presidential candidate - was to visit Minnesota State, Mankato, to campaign for First Congressional District candidate Tim Walz. But controversy erupted over comments Kerry made to a group of California students. Kerry said those unable to navigate the country's education system "get stuck in Iraq." He later said his comment was "a botched joke about the president and the president's people, not about the troops." Arizona Senator John McCain joins Gov. Pawlenty in a campaign swing around Minnesota today. McCain will speak at rallies in support of Pawlenty and Republican Congressman Gil Gutknecht in Rochester and Mankato before traveling to Blaine, Duluth and Moorhead. A Walz spokeswoman says Kerry canceled his visit to Mankato. Walz still plans to hold his rally. The Democrat is running against incumbent Republican Congressman Gil Gutknecht.

I heard on Fox this morning the reason he's still going to Pennsylvania tonight is because the Dems thinks that Casey's lead is big enough so it won't matter. The Arizona Cardinals thought the same thing about their lead over the Bears on MNF.

And where are the Congressional Democrats condemning Kerry's remarks?

Silence. Not one word.

It's been 2 days since Kerry's original remarks and not one single Democrat in the entire country has come out to support the troops. Not one.

Yup. Everyone one of them needs to be asked to condemn Kerry's remarks on camera.

The Washington Post also didn't think it was a big deal. Funny because the story lead even the MSM networks last night.

Cancelling appearances is an awesome thing! Even more negative attention is drawn to the candidate. John F'n stepped in it BIG TIME! He was to be President! All the dem fools supported him! All the same dem fools will suffer!

Too bad the people of Massachusetts haven't cancelled his Senate membership.

What a sick state that every Donkey Senator and Congressthing they elect is re-elected, almost without opposition, for life.

Kerry is flip-flopping again, was it a joke or a gaff?

As of this morning it still is. You know just because you have a "safe" lead why even take a chance?

Yesterday Kerry said he would get in their faces (the Republicans). He said he wouldn't take it anymore and would "take them on, anywhere, anytime." He said they like to create strawmen instead of debating real men.

But that was yesterday.

Today he's cancelling campaign appearances.

If he can't take on voters, how can he possibly fight the terrorists?

The MSM would freak if on election night they're told that Santorum was doing very well in the early results.
