ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A federal judge on Tuesday blocked the city of Hazleton from enforcing a pair of ordinances targeting illegal immigrants, just hours before the measures were to go into effect.

The measures, approved by the City Council last month, would have imposed fines on landlords who rent to illegal immigrants and denied business permits to companies that give them jobs. They also would have required tenants to register with City Hall and pay for a rental permit.

U.S. District Judge James Munley ruled that landlords, tenants and businesses that cater to Hispanics faced "irreparable harm" from the laws and issued a temporary restraining order blocking their enforcement.

Whatever happened to a government of the people, for the people and by the people? This is OUR country, not the illegals.

Clinton strikes again: James M. Munley (Scranton) (nominated by William J. Clinton in 1998. Further underscoring why the GOP must maintain control.

The judge is admitting to ignoring the law because of a convenience factor.

So if my beer distributorship catered to teens wanting beer, could I claim "irreparable harm" if the drinking age is enforced?

Can this disgusting lawyer in a black robe be recalled? One thing I can say for the Clintons, they did not appoint anyone without due scrutiny for leftist, socialist revolutionary thinking. The leftists have been using the Judicial branch of government now since the 1960s.

One activist judge is all it takes overturn the law. There should be a real penatly for judges who do this. Of course it is obvious that he would also find plenty of support even from ceartin Republican leaders.

It's more of the same - an activist judge killed proposition 187 in CA. There are many other examples but it highlights the importance of keeping control of the Senate so sane federal judges that are nominated can be confirmed.

Just leave it on the dock - then when kids get it, run to this same judge - apparently he's a soft touch.

I still remember the lying slime media calling Clinton a "New Democrat" and a "moderate" as they shilled for him. Anybody see any moderates among his nominees?

As the Mayor of my tiny little town, we have been watching this closely and the council wants to make a similar ordinance. This is not good.....
