SANTA ANA, Calif. A California congresswoman said she was briefly denied access to a United Airlines flight last week because her name appeared on a "no fly list" set up after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Rep. Loretta Sanchez, a Democrat who has been a critic of the no-fly list, said her staff had booked her a one-way ticket from Boise, Idaho, to Cincinnati through Denver. But they were prevented from printing her boarding pass online and at an airport kiosk.
Sanchez said she was instructed to check in with a United employee, who told her she was on the terrorist watch list. The employee asked her for identification, Sanchez said.
"I handed over my congressional ID and he started laughing and said, 'I'm going to need an ID that has your birthday on it,'" Sanchez said in a phone interview with The Associated Press....

The problem was that it was a one-way ticket.
If they cross-reference the membership lists of terrorist-supporting organizations, I'm sure a lot of democrat congress critters would turn up on No-Fly lists.
Touche!
Her being on the No Fly List will Doom her chances to win re-election.
"If they cross-reference the membership lists of terrorist-supporting organizations, I'm sure a lot of democrat congress critters would turn up on No-Fly lists."
This is a sadly true statement.
Rove did it, I bet
Shouldn't they arrest her? I mean if you can't fly you shouldn't be walking around.
I wonder if any of the Kennedy's are on the "no fly", "no drive", "no swim", "no being in the same room alone with them" and "no drinking" lists?
I think a second problem is that "Sanchez" isn't her real name - she hispanified herself to win latino votes in her district.
This is the congresscritter who should be the poster child for voter id requirement legislation. She stole the election several years ago from B1 Bob Dornan.
Yep, that sort of thing happens when you can't profile based on national origin or being a follower of the ROP, but must depend on such indicators as last minute bookings, one way tickets, payment in cash, etc.
But you can bet the farm that Ms. Sanchez would vigorously oppose such profiling.
It's her maiden name, otherwise, she's Mrs. Brixey.
