Pete Townshend's second greatest moment next to almost decapitating Abbie Hoffman at Woodstock.
Pete's a businessman.
Pete Townshend is a musical hero of mine. My band covers "Eminence Front" because the guys wouldn't let me cover Baba O'Riley. LOL...
I may need to go buy the new Who CD.
"Let me tell you again, 'He f**king is not a f**king bad man, you f**king idiot!'

I'm sure Dubya 'preciates the sentiment, if not the delivery, Pete.
Well I'll be...
I saw the Who a few days after Entwistle passed away. Ringo's son is a solid drummer.
Bravo Pete. The Who 'f**king' rock.
Since Pete did this to Moore, I'll have to shill for the Who's new album 'Endless Wire', on sale TODAY in the US. If it is as good as the 'Wire and Glass' EP, that's great for a couple of old geezers.
Won't Get Fooled Again
We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they all flown in the last war
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
No, no!
I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
For I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
There's nothing in the street
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now the parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss
LOL. His version of, "you're stuck on stupid".
No one knows what it's like to be a f#$king bad man
Pete Townsend sat through my band's set at the Troubadour in 1975. Him and Entwhistle. When it was over, he pounded me on the back and said, "Good show, wot?"
Perhaps this is a mis-interpretation on my part, but I always thought of the song as a counter-countercultural anthem. As if The Who was saying, "we were led by one group, then another took over, but nothing really changed."
But wait, isn't Townshend a convicted hemophiliac?
According to her, they were both terribly down to earth and genuine people without a pretentious bone in their bodies.
IMO, Pete is the best songwriter of the rock and roll era.
Quadrophenia is a masterpiece.
Met Townsend in LaJolla a few years ago when he was producing a stage show. nice guy.
The White City, that's a joke of a name
It's a black violent place if I remember the game
I couldn't wait to get out but I love to go home
To remember the White City fighting
The White City Fighting, remember, remember
The White City Fighting, remember, remember
Down to the refuge, near QPR
I drive to committees in my German car
Prone to violence, prone to shame
I glide in silence, my pride in vain
For no one remembers, not that I can see
That we were defenders, we were the free . . .
