The irony is they turned to Islam because they considered Christianity the racist [European-descended] man's religion. Many Christians back then were racists, and even today there are a few Christians who are racist, but if these Americans of African-descent looked, they would see that Christianity itself is not racist (in a genetic sense). All human creatures are flawed, some are racist even though they are also Christian. However, Christianity is decidedly not racist. Islam is.
