Abortion Clinic Field Trip
Capitol Resource Institute ^ | 10/20/06 | Karen England

Posted on 10/30/2006 6:41:42 AM PST by presidio9

As part of an “activism class,” students at Solebury School, a private school near Philadelphia, were taken to an abortion clinic, donned vests worn by abortion staff, and helped to escort women into the building.

During the field trip students were not permitted to speak to pro-life demonstrators standing outside the building.

“This is very, very disturbing,” said Eileen Stone, a prayer service participant. “These students are only seeing one side. Shouldn’t they see another perspective? After all, education is about seeing the whole picture.”

The teacher organizing the trip, Jason Gordon, said the students weren’t permitted to speak with the pro- life demonstrators because he did not want them to become involved in activism, denying that what they were doing was already a form of activism. He admitted that the children were not given both sides of the argument.

Child abuse of the worst kind.

Thanks for the ping, editor-surveyor! In the future, am I liable if I plagiarize your quote? : )

Raising little activists, I see. Whatever happened to field trips to the Liberty Bell or Valley Forge or the Franklin Institute?

If the class was an "activism class," why wouldn't the teacher want them to become involved in activism? That part of story doesn't make much sense.

From an ethical point of view, I'm skeptical of the decision to have students around women who are there for this situation. I wouldn't want any of the crisis pregnancy centers to which I donate to let a class full of kids come to the crisis pregnancy center to lead the clients around and watch what was happening. To do so would be an invasion of the privacy of those who came for help. While I oppose abortion, I still think that an abortion clinic allowing a field trip of this kind is an invasion of the privacy of the women who came to the clinic. The story isn't very complete, but my first impression from the description given was that the whole thing was similar to those old field trips to a dairy farm where every kid had a chance to milk a cow. Regardless of what one thinks about abortion, this place doesn't seem to be the kind of place where they care about the dignity of their patients.

I oppose abortion, but if a student wanted to volunteer at one of these clinics for six weeks and write a report, I wouldn't consider that assignment out of line. The school should allow other students to do the same thing at a crisis pregnancy center, but I can see these kinds of assignments being appropriate for advanced students in special studies programs. I like the idea of exposing young people to the reality of both sides of the issue, but this way of meeting that goal is wrong in so many ways.

Skip the field trip!

Just show them the results of the abortion.

A mangled baby. An arm here a leg there, brains sucked out on another one - they'll get the idea of what an abortion REALLY IS.

New Hope is crawling with gays and owned by the LEFT. It's an artsy type type with old victorian houses and an old fashioned "main street" where most of the shops are.

I'm very familiar with New Hope. They should change their name to Without Hope.

No surprise...the school is an active advocate of evolution by chance and natural process:

from here:

Teacher from Solebury High School participant in Darwin Day Celebration

The speakers the school brings in advocate evolution

Telling students to read Eugene C Scott [advocate of evolution by chance and natural process]

As expected, it is easy to find contradictions within their own actions and contradictions within their own statements. Solebury School Statement of Philosophy & Objectives

"Intrinsic to the school's philosophy is a profound respect for the individual...Our goals of diversity, innovation, and creativity are supported by celebrating the uniqueness in every person."

Profound respect for the individual means conditioning its students to crush to skulls of individuals, snap the spines of individuals, burn and poison individuals in saline solution, and vacuum individuals to their death. The school is carrying out its false presuppositions to their logical conclusion. If man is nothing more than an intellectual animal, and the purpose in life is to save ones self by directing future evolution, murdering ones own individual child can become 'good'. This contradicts the laws of their own conscience stated in their own philosophy and objectives statement, it is interesting that they call 'profound respect for the individual' 'intrinsic'. Note post 42 and replies for discussion of 'objective value'. The teachers of the school are in a state of tension as the logical results of their false presuppositions do not match the world they know to be true.

In this regard, it looks like Spanish apes get more governmental protection than pre-born Spanish humans. I just can't wait to find out what those Spanish solons think about civil rights protections for pre-born Spanish apes....

Is the world going insane or what???? Is the next great evolutionary step up for humankind the descent into total lunacy, mass madness?

It rather looks that way to me. Thank you for your insights!

You got it, and Appy Pappy did at #34 - it wasn't that the children were brought, and observed, but that they participated. It made me think of gangs getting members young and immediately initiating them with a demand to commit some heinous act, even the murder of sibling, parent, friend. The IslamoFascists are doing the same thing with their children: as soon as they are tall enough to hold a rifle, or to stand upright with a bomb strapped to their waist, their indoctrinated.

What this school did was the same sort of induction ceremony, make no mistake. Blood is now on the hands of those children, and the Accuser will take full advantage of it, you can be sure. It is so very important that we be preaching the Good News everywhere on all occasions, for the time is short and bloodguilt is increasing hundredfold. We who know the hope and faith and love in Christ must be making intercession and proclamation at new levels of urgency and fearlessness.

The apostle Paul stated very boldly, "I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of all men. For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God." (Acts 20:26)

May Jesus Christ Who holds the keys of the Kingdom grant us many open doors through which to run, holding out the hope of the Gospel.
