Like all of you, I was electrified by the recent news that our candidate Eric Dickerson had pulled ahead of Julia Carson a five term Democrat who won with just 54% of the vote in 2004. Aside from the obvious indications of a pick up of a seat, what makes this race still more exciting is that both candidates are Black.

This is a very simple choice: Do we mobilize and contribute to the campaign of a Trained Marine war fighter or stand on the sidelines and let a cut and run surrender Liberal win by default?
I have personally interviewed Eric Dickerson and learned is a former United States Marine. He is a trained war fighter. He knows what is at stake. He knows we either fight the Democrats in our polls now or prepare to fight terrorists in our streets in the near future.
With her ZERO American Conservative Union rating ( a rarity, even for Democrats not even Barney Frank or Nancy Pelosi have a ZERO ACU rating) Carson is a LIBERAL certain cut and runner.
Dickerson 57, is a married father of four and cares about this country more than a cut and run LIBERAL does. He knows running out of our responsibilities to fight terror will only invite more attacks.
Now a local businessman in the Indianapolis area where he lives, Eric has run a superb race as was indicated by Ms. Carsons acknowledgement of her under dog status in the wake of the release of a poll showing Eric Dickerson leading by a 45/42 margin.
When the first post on Eric hit Freerepublic it had an immediate positive effect. Hundreds of messages poured in to his website:

He now has some funds for a TV campaign, but he really needs your help. He wont get help from national organizations. In spite of the poll showing him in the lead, this race is STILL being carried as a likely Democrat retention.
Exactly what he needs: Your donation of $35.00.
I ran the field operations for Catholics Against Kerry two years ago. I made the radio buys ( CaK never had near enough for a TV campaign ). Believe me your donation of $35.00 will buy a minute of local radio time this week. Campaigns get the best rate by law and $35.00 will get Eric a minute of very valuable time.
The tide is rolling in our favor. Something good is happening out there!
Lets take Eric Dickerson as OUR FREEPER CANDIDATE. Lets give whatever we can, right now today so that we can laugh and cry and celebrate with this good man on Election Night. http://www.ericdickersonforcongress.com/
The contrast between our candidate Eric Dickerson and the tired old entrenched liberal Democrat (and when I say LIBERAL, how about a ZERO LIFETIME AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE UNION rating?) could not be clearer.
How LIBERAL is Julia Carson?
Here are some of the votes and positions LIBERAL Julia Carson has taken over the years: On Crime:
She voted against the Death Penalty: H R 2181 R.C. 20 02/25/98: possessing an illegal firearm
She voted against increasing mandatory minimum sentences for Criminal Possession of illegal firearms. This bill would have added:
a mandatory 10 years to any sentence of a criminal who merely possessed a firearm during the commission of a crime;
a mandatory 15 years to any sentence of a criminal who merely showed a firearm during the commission of a crime;
a mandatory 20 years to any sentence of a criminal who merely fired a firearm during the commission of a crime; and
a mandatory 30 years for the mere possession of a machine gun during the commission of a crime.
Carson voted NO on HR 3 R.C. # 118 05/ 08/ 97 : increase punishments for violent street gang activities.
This bill would have allowed an increased level of punishment for crimes committed by violent Juvenile Street gangs. It would have allowed states to apply for extra funds for combating violent Juvenile Street gangs by drawing from a 1.5 Billion dollar initial appropriation.
Carson voted against HR 2436 R.C. 465 09/30/99 : Attacking a pregnant woman
This bill would provide for federal penalties for those who attack pregnant women and injure or kill their babies.
Carson voted No to HR 5092 R.C. 476 01/16/06: tougher penalties for illegal firearms possession
This bill would add to the Attorney Generals ability to combat possession of illegal possession of firearms and establish new stiffer civil penalties for violations of federal firearms control laws.On Drugs:
Carson voted THREE TMES to support a federal illegal drug needle exchange.
H Amdt 347 R. C. 391 09/11/97, HR 2264 R.C. 09/17 /97, HR 4380 R.C. 412 08/06/98
Carson voted *No: to using our armed forces to help Immigration and Customs agents keep illegal drugs out of the country.
*She was one of only thirty nine to vote No.
Carson on Carson; In a recent interview on WTHR (Ch 13) broadcast on October 17, 2004 Carson said We needed increased border security.
But Carson TWICE voted AGAINST increased border protection on May 8, 2002 (HR 3525) and again on October 8, 2004 when voting against (HR 10) implementing recommendations of the 9/11 Commission.
Cut and run vs. Trained War fighter
Eric Dickerson supports the protection of our borders and homeland defense as though it has no other job.
Carson supports Partial Birth Abortion
Julia Carson sided with Nancy Pelosi and her California liberals and was the only Indiana congressperson voting against the Partial Birth Abortion Ban (S.3 10/02/03), a gruesome procedure that the American Medical Association says is never medically necessary.
Eric supports the ban on this horrible procedure that is often performed in the late stages of pregnancy.
Dickerson stands with President Bush on Social Security as well
While Liberal Julia Carson opposes proposals that help fix Social Security and allow for the future generations of recipients to increase their benefits, Eric Dickerson stand with the President on Social Security reform. He understands the current system cheats taxpayers by making their Social Security payments low interest loans to the government, not a trust fund for the future.
The failures of the current Social Security System hurt the poorest Americans the most. Eric said recently. Dickerson supports meeting all commitments to retirees. Eric acknowledges the reality that the current system must be changed for younger people. This must be done to provide better returns and to avoid taxation that would destroy our economy

This is our chance to stand the experts on their heads. Please help this man. I have interviewed him personally and I can tell you that I came away a believer.

Need another reason to vote for Dickerson?
"It's the same story every year," said Amy Walter, who tracks congressional races for the Washington-based Cook Political Report. "And then she pulls it off."
Walter continued :"I recognize this district is changing," she said. "It's becoming more suburban. That's why every couple of years some Republican challenger says, 'Hey, this is doable.' But this is not the year, and this is not the Republican challenger who we'd say can do it."
Me too.
If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)
If he is going to caucus with the elephants, I don't care what his name is.
Donated
But, what the heck...if it works...so be it, y',know?
bump
Actually no. That's maybe a 2-3 point bump if that. People know who he is by his TV commercials in the past for his Buick Dealership. He's out in the community in the RV every day, meeting and greeting the voters of the district.
He brings a fresh voice to a decaying city and district. The district needs real representation with Eric Dickerson.
I "went" to Western Michigan University too.....via on-line/snail mail...many years ago.
Just made my second contribution to his campaign. Hopefully, Hostettler & Sodrel can keep their seats and we
gain a seat in the House!
An engineer? Well why didn't you say so before.
From the Fort Wayne News Sentinel Editoral page
Democratic incumbent at risk
For months, national observers have cited three Republican congressmen in Indiana as vulnerable to their Democratic challengers. Last week, a new poll showed that U.S. Rep. Julia Carson, D-Ind., is running slightly behind her Republican challenger.
Critics say Republican Eric Dickerson is playing dirty by raising Carsons health as an issue.
The question sounds like fair game to us when a challenger faces an incumbent who was hospitalized after double-bypass surgery when she was sworn into Congress nearly 10 years ago.
She also missed dozens of House votes in 2004; she explained that she felt bad and had no energy.

PING!!!
True. Ain't it cool.
"Anyone who can match me on that??"
I'll match it....(ouch!!!...but it is so worth it. Carson is an embarrassment for Indiana, even for a liberal!)
Why is this race not on the national registers as being a tossup? We have to be careful with our resources to focus them explicitly where the odds are best.
Apparently there was a favorable poll. Were there other polls, too?
I thought he went to SMU. (j/k)
