Gore's flying visit questioned

A group of scientists is questioning the worth of Al Gore's flying visit to New Zealand.

The former US vice-president will arrive for half a day next month to promote his film on global warming, An Inconvenient Truth. During the 80 minute movie, Gore argues for the need to take immediate action to combat climate change.

The New Zealand Climate Science Coalition does not accept arguments about man-made global warming. Spokesman Owen McShane claims Gore has been liberal with the truth in his film, when he says Pacific Islanders have been evacuated because their islands are drowning.

"There are no such refugees and what's more, the Pacific Islands are not sinking below the waves. It's a very active area. In some islands the sea level is falling and in others it's rising."

Mr McShane says Gore's film is simply an opening shot in a campaign to revive his presidential ambitions.

Since opening in May, An Inconvenient Truth has grossed more than $US23.7 million in America, making it the third highest grossing documentary behind Fahrenheit 9/11 and March of the Penguins. However its foreign box office takings have been considerably less, at $US4.1 million.

Hmmmm. Mr Gore, this appears to be an inconvenient truth.

Gore should visit China. If only he could get the Chinese to reduce their greenhouse gas output...

Lo and behold. My faith in the reasoning power of mankind is semi-restored.

Too bad those who see with clarity are below the equator, but they do indeed see that Gore is full of crap.

Carbon 14 is more like it, as in fossil.

third highest grossing documentary behind Fahrenheit 9/11

They need a new category for propaganda movies, F-9/11 was not a documentary by MM's own admission.

He'll not only burn up enough jet fuel to fly a large plane around the world, but he'll do it at altitudes that will affect the ozone layer. Naughty, naughty, al!

Not to speak of all those greenhouse gases he spews out when he gives a lecture.

Al Gore is sure expending a lot of fossil fuels telling us, the unwashed neanderthal masses, that fossil fuels use must be reduced or eliminated. This is his what, nine thousandth trip to a summit or conference or whatever to spready his "the sky is falling" bullshit?

As are we all -- Al hasn't created a single molecule of carbon. It's all been there since the start of the world.

Alternatively, his expanding waistline suggests that, on average, he's a carbon sink, despite the jet travel.

It's funny that you say that because it reminds me of something I read a couple months ago. I forgot who it was that said it, but some envirowacko group spokesman suggested that trials for 'crimes against humanity' be held for those who deny globabl warming. These tyrants are not only delusional, they are dangerous. And Manbearpig is their leader.

Most Americans feel the same way when hearing that Algore is coming to their town.

Why should Gore run for president when his global warming gig is mega-lucrative.....with a guaranteed sinecure till he dies of severe cold exposure at age 87.

His implied presidential ambitions this time around is all puffery, in my opinion. The more he keeps his name in the headlines as he flits and darts around the globe, reveling in orgasms of publicity, means more movie admissions, more book royalites, more $100,000-plus speeches at business conventions and university campuses.

Plus, he regularly gets to escape from Tipper O'Hara and that phony Tennessee mansion with the phony pillars he pretends to live in.

Yep, the Flim Flam Man is doing great, carving out a great living by suckering the naifs of the world plus the stupid liberals.

No, I don't look for him to actually RUN for president, just to give everyone acid reflux thinking he will.
