GMA Devotes Half-Hour to Dems With Donaldson-Dominated Panel, Fox Puff Piece
ABC - GMA/NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 10/29/2006 7:53:10 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

When I first tuned to ABC this morning, I thought there might have been some schedule snafu owing to the switch to Standard Time. But no; I eventually realized I was indeed watching Good Morning America and not a late-night DNC infomercial.

You could forgive me for being confused, because the first half-hour amounted to little more than a love-letter to the party of Pelosi.

First up, GMA staged an "Election Pre-Game" panel, complete with that catchy NFL theme music. Cute concept, but then ABC fielded a lopsided team. Liberal lion Sam Donaldson, Cokie Roberts - voice of the center-left DC media establishment - and political reporter Jake Tapper. No George Will or other conservative to balance Sam. To strain the pigskin metaphor, GMA host Kate Snow, whose anti-tax cut antics I noted here back in May, served as coach/referee.

Then it was on to an excerpt of George Stephanopoulos' interview of Michael J. Fox that will be shown in its entirety later this morning on This Week. It was the puffiest of pieces, the softest of balls. Excerpts:

Hard-hitting stuff!

Throwing it back to the GMA host, Steph added: "Michael's going to continue using that unique position he has, Dan. He's going to be campaigning this week in Ohio, Maryland and New Jersey." Made we wonder if George had unwittingly slipped back into his Dem campaign-aide persona, giving out "his" candidate's schedule for the week.

Hard-hitting stuff!

You forgot the "S" at the beginning of the second word.

Their new slogan is, "See The DNC on TV at ABC".

Slipped back!

As if he ever ceased.

who says gma is anything more than a voice of the lib/dem msm....all of the alphabets are so biased....how about chrissy mathews ...he gets a show on sunday mornings...it is nothing more the a lib/dem commercial each sunday...no wonder he has no viewership.....this week he pontificated that the republican ad showing lib/dem harold ford with the playboy bunny ad was racist.....chrissy conveniently forgot to mention ford's father that this week called a white reporter a "cracker" ...not once but twice...guess that is not racism...but if a white used the "n" word..it would be politcal suicide..unless he ws the grand klegal of the kkk....robert byrd...the moral conscience of the lib/dems.....

no wonder abc gets a pass....double standard of the msm!!!!

McCain Feingold in action. With no one to counter them and they being the only game in town right now there's no reason for any attempt on their part to balance their coverage. That was the intent of MF all along. McCain should be proud of himself.

Some more dancing in the endzone, but no touchdown.

I watched most of the program. Sam the Sham predicted DemoRats were going to win decisively. Cokie was more subdued in her predictions, much to Sam's dismay.

All in all, the program was a sham, pro DemoRat rally.

I wonder how many billions in free advertising the Dems have gotten from the "news" media over the decades.

How can ABC claim a lack of bias any longer? How? I watched Stepawhathisface this morning and nearly lost my breakfest. It was a lovefest for the incoming Democratic adinistration of Congress.

Michael J. Fox, using his illness as a shield, dumped on the GOP. George sat there smiling, and nodding.

And what was George's last job? Oh yeah, he was one of Clinton's White House butt boys.

So ABC gives him his own Sunday Talk Show. Yeah, that's fair and balanced.

It's not only the fake news media, but the entertainment media as well. It all started with Norman Lear's All in the Family. After they ran an episode that was practically a 30 minute commercial for McGovern in 1972 I remember my father saying "the Republicans should ask for equal time."

In the interests of free speech I would not want to call for this to be mandatory, even though people on the left have no problem abridging free speech all the time. But I would like to see the GOP make it a political issue, maybe even run ads about press bias. Use it to rile up the base. It sure has me mad!

The libs have been trying to place a value on talk radio promoting Republican and conservative issues, so to kick in M-F campaign finance laws.
So why not place the same value as an example on pro Democrat Broadcasting?
Opens up a can of worms yes?

As if he ever ceased.,

Maybe it's just me. Sniffonallofus still looks like a little dork to me.

That could be considered ad hominem, I admit, but he has never ceased being Caligula's Clintoooon's spokesperson. So his philosphy is simply that of the Clintons.

But he looks like he needs to go home for about 20 years and grow up.

Is George Will still actually a conservative? On most panel discussions on This Week, his opinions aren't any different from those of the leftist panelists.
