it wants to comb for the names of illegal immigrants.

Uh, I live in NM, how are they going to recognize the names of illegals?

...the group submitted a request through the state's Inspection of Public Records act back in July... A spokesman for Richardson told KRQE News 13 that the Republican Party is just trying to politicize the issue before election day.

It sounds like the group started this over the summer, and the Democrats made it a political issue before election day by delaying.

Anyone interested in voter fraud of any kind should be looking at New Mexico. I think the crooks in this state have it all down to a science. I worked on an election board for several years and we tried in vain to get the county clerk to remove the names of deceased voters, duplicates, etc.

You name it, NM has it; we have the dead vote, we have missing ballots that are found later, we have the mysterious Indian Reservation voting that manages to deliver at the very last minute the very number of votes needed to change things. We have the illegals voting, and on and on.
I have even heard snow birds brag about voting in their home state by absentee and then voting here. Many snow birds think because they "live" in two or more states they should have a say so- they don't think multiple voting is wrong, even in national elections.

It will be portrayed as racism, of course. And who cares? The tactic has been falsely fired so often that it's threadbare! Worn out and worthless. It's well past time that conservatives heave this phony accusation right back in their faces, whatever it takes. We should be immune to this lame attack by now.

Rather like the proverbial little boy who cried wolf too often, isn't it, IInense?

That's probably the biggest downside to this subject. Falsely accusing people of racisism continuosly will cause the person who is discriminated against to be ignored.

Probably at least five to ten times that many

New Mexico has the highest proportion of people identifying themselves as Hispanic/Latino: 43%. Half of those would be illegal aliens, which means that state has over 20% population who shouldn't be there. Has New Mexico become the first openly "Sanctuary State"? I have heard that Bill Richardson wouldn't have had a chance in hell of obtaining the governorship had he not trumpeted his Mexican background.

...the person who is discriminated against to be ignored.

Just a little side note: I think you're referring to a person who has actually NOT been discriminated against, yet cries RACISM because, well...sometimes it works!

Enough of this nonsense; they have to be smacked down every time they try it.
