While reading the thread on the upcoming Sunday shows, http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1727663/posts
I read this opinion:
"if [the Democrats] lose (sic) on Novmber 7th the consequences for him and his profession are catastrophic. We may be witnessing the practical effects of a situation where one side has no way out. The apocryphal advice from Sun Tzu about always leaving your enemy an avenue of escape comes out of a practical understanding of what really happens when desperate people are cornered. So far they've only abandoned ethical constraints, but if pressed they may abandon the last shreds of reason."
Much of what we are hearing and reading has to do with a Democrat victory (assumed), at least in part. I am curious about the political consequences if they lose.
Please make this thread a topic of serious discussion.
Thank you. Boots

is the link. The person spoken of is Wold Blitzer, and the profession, journalism.
Interesting question. What if hey gain two seats in the Senate and 10 seats in the House:
1. Will the rationalize it as a win?
2. Will several of them quit in Congress?
3. Will Lieberman cacus with the GOP?
I can't really say what they'll do because the democrats cover a pretty wide range of people.
I intend to be a gracious winner or a good loser whatever the case may be. However being a good loser doesn't mean rolling over and playing dead. I'll still fight the democrats every step of the way.
I've seen Comments that they will take to the streets like the Mexican left did.
Cannot have any serious discussion if Wolf Blitzer is involved ,sorry.
I doubt that the Dems will actually lose seats, although they aren't likely to gain anything like what they have been claiming.
If do they lose, then people might make a bit of money by shorting the stock of Diebold, because there could easily be a Diebold War along the lines of the Chad Wars of 2000.
"We was robbed by rigged voting machines!"
But that is not a stock recommendation. Everyone should do his own due diligence.
I don't think there will be a huge impact.
2008 will be the key, For all their advantages Dems have they are hampered by not having a single leader to help form a coherent message. Tn 2008 they will have that as we shall have a new messenger also.
That will be the true test
Well, I'm betting Howard Dean will be out of his job pretty darn fast!
Rush has been asking this question for the last few weeks.
I think he quoted James Carville as saying that if they lose this election, they're finished as a party.
On #3, I say no.
On every issue but Iraq, he is a hard-core Leftist.
Go look at his voting record at somewhere like http://www.conservative.org/ for instance.
"Diebold War"
I take it you have also read here on FR the posting about the other company with electronic voting machines with possible connections to Diebold Venezuela also?
Nah, they'll say the elections were rigged again. Then they'll keep smearing and continue calling the Republicans and the president names.
First, whaddya mean, "IF?!"
As for consequences, they won't be political. They'll be criminal.
We're going to see some seriesly unrestrained violence from the left after we win big.
Right now, though, our jobs will be to expose ACORN and all other leftist voter fraud occuring on a daily basis. The only way they can win is if they cheat.
The 'Rats will throw a fit. The name Diebold will be mentioned. That prospect alone is more than sufficient reason to get out and vote!
They can always flee to Canada. Didn't Alec Baldwin do that after Kerry lost? Or go to Venezuela or one of the remaining workers' paradises (Cuba, Vietnam, Belarus, or North Korea).
For that reason alone I'm voting a straight Pug ticket.
(And I am quite series)
